cat back is pointless on the 650 unless you are doing A LOT of other mods, in which case you should do catless downpipes as well. Axlebacks are sufficient.

Again I will post a quick how-to later on when I have a chance but the pictures give you an idea for now.
The stock square tips wouldn't fit with this setup would it ? It's necessary to remove it ?

M6 diffuser w / square tips

A user named PTK has this setup... I am considering it myself... Check out the thread "Pics of your 6", page 7 for pics of PTKs ride...

I do indeed. it works.

But I wouldn't mind wider quad pipes to fill in the space a tiny bit better. It looks good with the stock m sport exhaust but not perfect. there is about 0.5 inch more empty space above the pipe than below it when you pair the square tip exhaust with the M6 style bumper and V style diffuser. I am pretty picky and I guess it's only noticeable when you squat down near the ground... but larger quad pipes would look better.

Confused what question you are asking? If you are asking about the diffuser being one or 2 pieces, you just need one piece and that is the M6 diffuser. Is that $340 amount painted or not? If just primed, check out BMW of Stratham part #51128052677. They were the best deal I could find and it was $170 shipped to Denver, CO. If that $340 is painted though, that is great deal.

IMO, I would definitely get bigger tips to fill those gaps.

I completely agree. I went 3.5" originally and still think dual 4.0" will be better. I will find out soon when my exhaust is delivered hopefully this week.

I would also tend to agree but you kind of have to be careful with going bigger than the 3" tips. the way the outlet pipes of the mufflers are installed I'm not sure it allows you to go with a larger diameter.

As it is already the 3" tips are within a centimeter of each other.

Hey Gentlemen, apologies to pull up this old thread, but i need a little help from the experts lol. I just purchased a 2016 640xi and i'm interested in upgrading to the 4 quads look, this is just for looks. I think it looks way better. So with that, can somebody tell me the easiest way to go about doing this?

If you have the M Sport diffuser, I would recommend buying the M6 diffuser and then it is a pretty easy swap between the 2. The M6 diffuser will look much better with the quad tips. I think you can do quads with the M Sport but it just doesn't look right IMO. You can then add other diffusers if you choose (such as a Vorsteiner one). After that, there are many quad tip options. You can do a muffler delete (which I do not recommend due to drone) or there are many axle back options. I would recommend searching "tips" in our forum. There are a ton of threads (many from myself as I was in the same predicament) that discuss how to achieve this look. Good luck!

Thanks... found the answer about the swap for the diffuser but I would like to assume that the M6 mufflers will both up

Hi. Sorry, replying to a really old thread but it’s an extremely useful one. And I needed a bit more info. I’m thinking of doing the same swap of the square tips to quads with a new diffuser. Question on the tips. What’s the ideal length of the new tips so that they don’t stick out much past the bumper? 4”? 5”?
The specs I have so far for the tips are 2.25” inlet, 3.25-3.5” outlet...and just need the length.
Many thanks!

I know this is an old thread, but was curious about your install of the diffuser. I see that you have that piece of plastic in the center hanging down that I am running into. By going with the 2-piece diffuser w/ the M6 upper part, were you able to install without removing that piece?

I just received the 1-piece splitter, and it looks like I would have to remove that piece of plastic in order for the new diffuser to go on, but I am guessing that requires removing the entire bumper and I don't want to do that if possible.
