Standard Seats in M-Sport 640i

I just realized that even though I ordered M-Sport (which in my previous 2 e92s gave you upgraded seats) my 640i will have the standard seats. Should I be upset? Are they even comfortable?

Just for reference, these are the ugly seats:

I believe the M sport option gives you these seats....... similar to the Z4. At least that's what the Europeans get??? Headrests are supposed to be a PITA ???

I don't think that's the case for US cars, sadly...

The even more depressing part is that these seats are LESS common than the multi-contour seats.

I had the regular seats on my previous coupe and they are comfortable. Frankly I don't seem to feel a difference between them and the comfort seats

Really? So it's nothing to worry about really?

Yeah they are really good, the only thing comfort seats have is more ways to adjust your seating position and lumbar support.

My old x5 has regular seat, and it was great. I was driving it for 5 hours straight to San Francisco several times, and I have nothing to complain.

About BMW seats

M-Sport Models in Europe come with standard seats (pictured) or the Sport-seats as a no-cost option (also shown but not in the Platinum White Individual Trim pictured here!). Both standard and sport seats on the 6-series have electrical control for about 6-8 parameters and 3-memory function on the driver and passenger side. Additionally, you can option lumbar control on standard and sports seats as well without going to full 'Comfort Seat/Luxury Seat Package option (if you have a back issue or prefer this)

The Comfort Seats are marginally better - that is, you now have 20 individual settings with electrical control which i presume you will only ever use once to get comfortable. I really can barely if at all tell the difference. I also find the Comfort seats look heavier/bulkier so may suit certain body builds better, they seem to eat up rear leg room more than the standard and sport seats though.

All 3 BMW seats offer good support so I would not worry. I would worry a lot more about offset (a particular problem in Audis and some Mercs in RHD) to be honest. And for those of you aspiring to Maseratis and Ferraris, may I humbly suggest through personal experience that ALL their seats are pretty rubbish for support and offset.

Good to hear, i'm very happy that i'm not missing out comfort wise. As long as they are comfortable, i'm fine with it. Especially since i have lumbar support and never actually used the thigh extensions in the E92s, I hope to enjoy the F13 once it arrives! Thank you for all of your input!

Those headrests look very similar to those in the Z4 and, from personal experience, I can confirm that they certainly are a PITA, or more accurately - a pain in the neck. They're non-adjustable and on my extended test drive in the Z4, I couldn't get my head back far enough for comfort.

I can believe that! I guess i don't mind that the sport seats aren't offered in the US.

Try the comfort seats; I have them in my 640i and they're excellent.

My 640i was already ordered without them , but many (in this thread) have stated that there is little to no difference comfort wise, but i will test them out before i sign the deal.

Just an update:

I picked up the car today and I love it! The seats are superb, and other than the extra thigh extensions, I didn't find the extra controls too useful. The comfort of the standard seat is still excellent compared to my e92 with sport seats. The funny thing is that the bolsters on the e92 had a wider range of adjustability than those of the F13s comfort seats. All in all, I don't feel like I missed out.
