Seriously considering buying a 14 640xdrive

I have had my eye on a 14 640.

I have lusted over the 6 series for years now and I think I am finally about to buy one.

The one I am considering has ventilated sport seats which are a big selling point for me. Definitely, I want to have sport seats.

HUD eh, can that be turned off?

It's got a little more than 40k on it.

Is there anything I should watch out for?

The 6 does need new brakes, the rotors are in not good shape and creating some pulsing. Rear brakes are about done. As I understand, correct me if I am wrong, the brakes should be covered under their maintenance warranty that was on the 2014's.

I admit, I am sort of torn between getting a 535 instead of the 640.
I found a decent one locally also that has similar mileage, has the M package though where as the 6 I was considering seems to only have the sports seats, the price on the 5 I was looking at is about $4k cheaper.

Previous BMWs owned 1993 325is, 1998 528i.
Previous other cars 2010 Mercedes E350, Audi A3, Nissan Altima.

Current cars owned 2002 Mercedes SLK 320, 2001 Porsche Boxster, 2003 325i(daughters car we bought).

I had a 550i before getting the 650i, and unless you're very tall (6'5 or above), the 650i is better in every possible way.

Not a ton to add to your questions but I can tell you that the HUD can be turned off and the maintenance may transfer over or you. I purchased a certified pre-owned 14 and I have a maintenance through 2018. This one sounds used so not sure for you. Check with a dealer maybe? If the brakes are bad though... Not sure why the current owner wouldn't just take it in themselves to sell a car that has brand new brakes.

I decided to hold off on the one I was thinking of. The one I was thinking about is priced about $34k with 43k miles. It's in Chantilly, VA. It's in okay shape, my biggest concern with it other than the brakes being worn out is wondering how much it had been out in the salt. Previously it had been owned in New York and judging by the amount of rust on the rotors and some of the screws up underneath, I would say that it had been in the salt a bit.

Also that one doesn't have the M package, I might as well just wait and find one with the M package.

And another thing I didn't like, the chrome trim around the windows was all heavily oxidized, this wasn't necesariliy a deal breaker, but it was something I was concerned about.
