Agreed... Back in 20 years ago I drove my MT car several times with no clutch due to broken clutch pump... so don't worry... I can handle it

Back in the mid '70's a friend of mine raced a modified '57 Chevy. One day he blew up the clutch plate. He never got to roast it like those guys in the video. When he took the transmission out it looked like someone sprayed shredded wheat around the inside of the bell housing.

I can vouch that, at least in the older cars, you could shift through the gears without depressing the clutch pedal. I used to do it to "amaze my friends." I may try it in my M6GC if I ever get the testicular fortitude. Or not.

Still the same... a friend of mine has a 3 series (2015) MT... I drove his car the other day and it's doing the same thing at high RPM

According to the online configuration, it looks like on the '16 MT you get carbon fiber surround on the gear shifter rather than the piano black we all have on our current M6 MT's.

Hmmmm, I tried building mine all over again and seeing what you were talking about but it wasn't giving me that option..:

Regardless- the piano black wouldn't bother me. I almost went with gray poplar wood trim!

If it's truly available, and if it retrofits, I'll definitely order one. I don't know about anyone else, but my piano black surround shows scratches like crazy, and I'm not that brutal with it.

I love the carbon fiber surround on the AT cars.

I've had dark ash in my last two 750s which was similar to gray poplar. Looks great with black or black/white interiors. There's also this individual white ash wood that i've yet to see in person

Oops! Meant to edit my comment- but thank you for this! My CA also confirmed that it's all carbon fiber as well on the 16 manuals- which I'm sure means you guys can retrofit it eventually since that area wasn't changed for the 16s
