It's nice, but there are better things to spend on considering the quality of sound.
You're buying a high quality vehicle, high quality options should be included, like surround view, m package, adaptive led headlights etc.

B&O - Why not. Tons of 6's out there - find one that has it. IMO worth it for the look alone.

Has anyone here with the B&O ever heard the Individual Dirac system that was offered in the e63 M6? I had that system in my M6, and it was IMO the best system I have ever had in a car by a pretty long shot. While I had that car I did test drive a 650 with the B&O, and honestly I thought the Dirac sounded better. With the Dirac it had really good bass, and you could crank it up to the point it was blaringly loud with no distortion. Now, having said that, I will say that I do not know much about high end audio, so all I can go off of is what sounds good to me.

Another question for you guys that know what you are talking about: I have read several times that the B&O is just OK, so what in car system would you recommed as being one of the best in the business? Preferably in a more standard production car such as higher end MB, BMW, Porsche etc and not Bentley/Rolls Royce as I will have no way of trying out the sound system in one of those cars.

Thanks!

My Cousin has the 2014 Panamera Turbo S with the Bermister ... that is exactly why I was sold on it ticked that option box when I ordered my 2015 S63 .. system is amazing for high's, mids and lows! Very clear even at higher volumes!!!

As for the B&O ... I ordered purely for look as like my 2007 M6 Cab ... I want to hear the exotic exhaust tone on my 2016 Cab when she is topless ... once I upgraded to the Akra with SS catless downpipes that is ... B&O, just like my M6 Cab in AW/SO, eye candy if you will

Except the B&O is not a high quality option. It's a premium priced system that sounds mediocre-to-adequate as far as premium sound systems go. If I were ordering another M6 I'd rather spend that money elsewhere like individual interior.

I had a E63 M6 with the Dirac before my F13 M6 with the standard sound system. The Dirac was my favorite sound system of any car for a long time and the 7-band EQ was perfect for that system. I even used it heavily to crossreference my mixes to check if they were "radio ready". Now my favorite is the Burmester in Porsches or "Bermeister" as its been called here. Bowers & Wilkins has some promising offerings for the auto industry as well. Wish they would make it into BMWs. Interestingly the B&O system on the Astons are pure sonic bliss so clearly BMW, B&O, or both slacked with the development of the system for the M6.

To each it's own, I drove them 650 without the option and the 650 with the option. Compared to the what's given, the B&O is much better. I'll spend extra on the option.

Thank you for the feedback! The Burmester system is the one option that I wish I had gotten in my 911. Now I REALLY want it! I have the Bose in it, and it is just mediocre in my novice opinion. I will say that it does have as much or more bass as any OEM audio system I have had in a car which I enjoy. One thing I will say, at least in the 991, even though the Burmester speakers look much better than the Bose, they do not transform the cabin as much as the B&O and other high end systems I have seen with the beautiful tweeters, special lighting, etc.

Either way, as you mentioned in another post, most of the time I have the music turned all the way off listening to the awesome sound of the exhaust!

I really appreciate the feedback from someone more knowledgable on audio systems! Now I know I am not crazy! I test drove that 650i at a dealer with a few friends (it was the BMW drive event so we all drove it) and I told them all that I thought for sure my Dirac system was better than the B&O. None of them believed me at the time, althought I will say none of them had been in my car with even the radio on let alone a high quality audio source.

Regarding Bowers & Wilkins, the new G11 750i actually can be speced with a B&W audio system as the top of the line option. It adds in the speakers and lighting that is even more beautiful than the B&O IMO. I haven't gotten to hear it yet, but once again I will say I would probably have to order it based on looks alone.

Here is a picture of the B&W speakers that I stole from member Jwestfield. He has a thread on the G11 board with some of the coolest interior shots I have seen on the new 7.

I'm very interested in listening to that system. Hopefully it sounds as good as it looks. Another system that I recently had the pleasure of listening to at a charity car rally is the Sonus Faber in the Huayra. I had a very short listening time but I can tell you it sounds as good as the car is expensive.

+1

In my mind and hearing ability, it was as good as the Burmister!

I actually went from an M4 with HK to M6GC with B&O and personally like the B&O much better. A lot more bass and the sound seems richer and more filling in the M6 (with full leather).

Now, I am not an audiophile, so I can't professionally judge the two, but to my ears B&O is much better, and that is all that matters.

Also, coming from the previous generation X5M sound system to HK in M4, HK was much better system.

Anyway, I vote for B&O for M6GC.

Burmeister and Mark Levinson systems are be best out of the box. BMW needs to step up. Otherwise, aftermarket is required for those who are audiophiles imho.

Drove my neighbors '15 turbo s cab with the Burm and was not blown away. Perhaps it sounds better in the coupe. There is no Q it sounds better than my 2016 B&0 but not as good as ML's that I have had in a previous 600h L.

Thread Hi-Jack.......

Can you tell me why you went from the M4 to the M6GC? I'm contemplating the same. Send me a PM if you would rather not jack up this thread.

Back on topic.

The '16 M6 all come with the B&O system as part of the Executive package, so it's a no brainer for me. Plus, growing up in Northern Germany and Denmark, I always wanted a B&O system. Unfortunately my hearing has been damaged too much to appreciate "good" sound quality.

I found the B&O system to be among the best optioned music systems in a car and I enjoyed it alot.

Does need a bit of tweaking in the settings, especially lowering the second lowest bass setting.

The '16 M6 all come with the B&O system as part of the Executive package, so it's a no brainer for me. Plus, growing up in Northern Germany and Denmark, I always wanted a B&O system. Unfortunately my hearing has been damaged too much to appreciate "good" sound quality.
I went from M4 to M6GC because I needed two more doors and something bigger. Both practical reasons, right?

The choice was between Turbo S and M6GC and in all honesty "practicality" of the M6GC over Turbo S, if you will, tipped the scales. As much as I like the Turbo S, the current family situation with two kids, made M6GC a more reasonable choice.
