My local dealer sent me a e-mail promoting $15K off his '12 650 coupes. I would get closer to 16K off with the current $2500 option credit. Add to that he would install the 373m wheels I want NO CHARGE. Roughly $1600 more discount. So I am talking $17,500 off.
Now the one he has is close to what I want - except wrong interior color and no HUD. And I know the '13 is improved. ( engine increase, soft close doors, stop/start) But man that is really tempting - hell a '12 is not exactly dog food !!

Wow! Now that's the kind of incentive I'm talking about. Idk what I'd do if given that option. The increase in power, soft-close, shadowline, etc. aren't necessarily worth $17,500 to me. However, I think I'd be haunted by the fact that I compromised and wonder "what could have been" for the entire time I drove the car. I suppose I'd have the extra $17,500 keeping me warm at night to drive away those dreams. Tough decision... I'm still regretting skipping B&O and top-view cameras, and those are small regrets compared to the potential situation you're describing.

Are they saying $15,000 off of any 2012 or a specific car/cars on their lot? If it's too specific, then I'd question the mileage and whether it's been driven hard as a test car for the last year. If it's any 2012, I'm wondering if they could trade with another dealer if someone else had a car closer to the customer's liking. I think any dealer would be happy to be rid of a 2012 at this point in time, so maybe they'd still give you the $15,000. Idk, I'm just thinking out loud here.

I could maybe accept an Ivory instead of black interior for that kind of savings. I'd still strongly consider giving up the extra power and soft-close for that money. The things I wouldn't compromise on are:

1. Exterior color (I'd consider CB, AW, DSB, or SG).
2. Full LEDs - yes, they're THAT important to me as I think they completely change the look of the car.
3. M Sport - a little bit of reason #2, but, more importantly, I could not go with the non-M Sport exhaust now after knowing the difference.
4. Nappa Dash - this changes the overall feel of the interior to me. Honestly, without this option I think I'd save $30,000 and buy an M3 as the interior and lack of options are my biggest issues with the current one (note: I'm comparing the M3 to the 6er's interior. I think the M3 has a nice interior compared to a lot of cars, but it isn't on the same level with the 6er. The improved performance of the M3 doesn't make up for that discrepancy for my daily driver).

Like you said, a 2012 isn't dog food, and I'm very happy with my current 2012. I just don't think I could take the 2012 at this point in the cycle knowing what I know about the 2013. It is after all a $100,000+ vehicle, so $17k isn't very much when you put it in the context of the grand scheme of everything.

OMG 16K off. I would have probably had him locate a 2012 that was more to my liking if I was offered that kinda deal. WOW.

Here's the dealers e-mail. Sounds like deal is on in- stock cars. My case is reversed- I want Vermillion red with Ivory and this car has black Nappa. And it has approx. 100 miles on the odo, which does bother me - sure they were tough test drive miles. It does have the full LEDs/20" wheels ( makes the swap to the 373's easy) premium sound and luxury seating. No Nappa dash/ceramic.

I have in place a 2013 650 convertible with the Exec Package, M Sport and a few other items for an MSRP of $103K. I am purchasing the car for $1K over invoice from a dealer in NH (I reside in MA). Is this a good deal? It sounds like it but I am curious as to what other deals are out there.

For those of us who don't know what invoice is, what is your discount off of MSRP?

Edmunds and Consumer Reports typically have all of the invoice v. MSRP numbers available. I always like to know exactly (or as close as possible since some dealership incentives, etc. from BMW may not be public) how much invoice is. I special ordered my car, so I made the point, "at X% above invoice you make $Y off of this sale. I'm giving you $5,000 as a deposit, so you have literally no risk and thus are essentially filling out some paperwork and maybe making some phone calls."

I believe MSRP is typically 7.25% (approximately) above invoice - for the base price anyway - and at that markup, they are making $7,250 on a $100,000 car. If you ask me, that is a lot of profit for filling out some paperwork and arranging to get the car to the dealership. Obviously, they are a business and need to turn a profit, can't fault them for that, but a pretty small percentage above invoice turns into a good bit of money in their pockets.

We are a small percentage of BMW's customers, and a lot of customers who only care about the BMW badge are not as likely to do thorough research and push for a better price. These sales give the dealers lots of additional money that helps supplement the smaller, yet still sizeable, profits from selling to those of us who press on them a little harder.

Another good thing to look for are the BMW FS incentives. A lot of times these will get you to or below invoice. Typically BMW FS pays for this, not the dealer, so this discount doesn't count against their bottom line.

Smaller dealerships seem to be discounting 6ers more than the bigger ones. I've heard stories illustrating this around here, and I witnessed the same thing. I contacted a Houston dealership I had visited in the past for a quote (they were out of town, but I figured I owed them a chance as they had been helpful when I was looking at different cars), and I told them that I was shopping around. Their initial quote was over $2500 more than my dealership here in Mobile, so it wasn't even worth trying to negotiate down from there. Sales in cities like Houston seem to be pretty good, but here the cars on the lot are not moving very fast, and I've only seen one other 6er around this relatively small town.

Just a few thoughts I wanted to pass on.

Build config on bmw usa is down for 5, 6 and 7 series. Looks like they might be populating with new models. 2013 6 Gran coupe seems to be working . Also the offers have also gone down.

X6DB - the MSRP on my 2013 order is $103k and invoice is $95k. I am paying $96k for a 2013 convert. From what I have been reading from other subscribers, this appears to be a good deal. Any 2013 orders out there getting less off invoice at this time? I visited a local dealership in Sudbury, MA the other day to see the GC and they quoted me $500 over invoice. These guys have been famous for never negotiating therefore I really did not put much thought into their quote of $500 over invoice.

I'm at around $102K on a sticker price of $110K. Still waiting for the '13 BMW incentives.

That's for the RWD 650. The AWD version does 0-100 in 4.4; I bet that translates into 0-60 in 4.3.

X6DB, any updates on 2013 incentives as of yet? My car is in transit and due to arrive in the next couple to 3 weeks according to my dealer. Still on the fence as to lease or finance as I too am waiting for the incentives. Let us know if you hear anything. Thanks.
