M6GC Brakes

I recently acquired a M6GC (w/comp package), though no ceramics. I wanted to reach out to other M6 owners to see what you think about the compound brakes. I personally can't believe that the M division put such weak brakes on such a heavy powerful car. I feel that I need to give the car a lot of space to stop. Anyone else having such issue with the car?

I don't have the ceramics either, but I don't have any issues with stopping power. The brakes feel quite strong to me. I thought the main benefit of ceramics was reduced weight and resistance to fade... not necessarily outright stopping power.

Agree, don't know how the M6GC drives though.

I think it drives so so...shouldn't be called an M besides the motor. Everything else is soft

Why did you buy the car. Sounds like you didn't....hum,... drive it, or know what you were buying. The Carbon Ceramic brakes reduce fade and dust. The only issue on 'non-Track' driving I've noticed with the standard M6 brakes, is a lot of brake dust on the wheels.

I did test drive, but didn't drive it as hard as I do now that I own.

Maybe have the dealer check out your brake system. Maybe your brake pads were contaminated with oil or tire dressing? The tire dressing will burn off the rotors, oil could be a lasting issue, but what you're experiencing is not normal.

My brakes stop the car great. When I first took delivery of my car, the accelerator pedal seemed soft, then I discovered the custom M settings, now I never allow the engine to run in "efficiency" mode, it feels sluggish. Other than that, I think most will agree that the M6GC drives and feels smaller than it is.

Have had my M6 GC (with CP and ceramics) for about 3 weeks. It replaced a 2013 F10 M5. I agree the car drives smaller than it is, is a significant improvement on the F10 M5 without CP and the brakes are wonderful.

I drive the car around town with engine Sport Plus, suspension Comfort and steering Sport.

I have owned 6 M5's and now the M6 GC since 1993 .. for me this is the most fun and chuckable since my 1999 E39 M5

Fabulous !
