Price opinion...

Hello Fellas!

I'm over on the X5 forums and currently looking at 2015 640i GC xDrive.

Current miles 29,900 alpine white, black interior, msport, LED head lights, soft close doors, alcantara roof, heads up display

They are asking $39,997...

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

What month in 2015 / how much warranty remaining?

As per the above comment; very good value by UK standards.

Oops misread the thread, its a 640 not a 650, now the 650I GC with X drive would be an M6 eater, just look at what the G30 M550i figures compared to an F10 M5, of course we brits don't get the option.

The 640i is nice, though the 650i GC XD would be a special and rare thing, sorry going off point, thats still a good buy on the 640i, have you driven it

The 650 power I'm sure is great. I just stay away from BMW v8, I don't think they have it ironed out yet.

The v8 X5 are riddled with problems.

Yeah, I test drove it and love the car trying now to get the dealer to play ball with the buy out on the x5.

If I get it I will post up pics.

V8 or bust. The car is too heavy for an I6. I believe you're talking about the the N63 having issues, not the N63TU.

I just recently bought one (well, my wife did...) and I saw the one you're looking at also. Two things steered me away from it: no CPO, and it's got an accident hit on the Carfax.

It's a good price, but again, it's been in an accident.

Yeah, that was my concern too. I inspected the body pretty well and checked the seems in engine bay and found nothing. I am not sure what an accident constitutes on a Carfax report. Could have been real minor and it's on the Carfax.

I'm still thinking it over and let's see if the dealer is willing to negotiate.

Keep us posted! Did you run a paint thickness gauge over it to see which panels were repainted?

See that's it, I don't know what panels were painted. I looked as best as I could and nothing. At least the 4 tires are brand new, the interior is clean, some rash on the wheels.

I ended up with a CPO 2015 w/ 20K miles that was absolutely mint. Probably paid a little bit more than I should have, but it was local and I'm a sucker for super clean cars.

if it was repaired at at BMW dealer they can print out the repair order so you will know exactly what was done. If it wasn't repaired at the dealer, they can probably get repair orders from the previous owner or have the previous owner authorize the insurance company to release that info. Hell, if you have the name of the previous owner, google them and call them and ask. Not all accidents are created equal - there are minor rear enders that require a new bumper cover and paint, and then there are more serious collisions which can FUBAR the unibody. Minor accidents aren't a big deal if you intend to keep the vehicle for the long term, but I wouldn't touch one that had been in a serious collision.

The collision place is actually in NY, I called this morning and they don't remember the car and can only track it by the name of the customer. high velocity Inwood, NY.

I thought they can look up the VIN and have all the info. Doesn't work that way!

I will keep doing my research and see what happens.

Thanks!
