Comfort+ 650i 2014

Hi Guys,

I've come across a number of threads discussing the different driving modes on the 6 series. However, I've only got the following modes; comfort + is nonexistent; any ideas ?
  • Sport plus
  • Sport
  • Comfort
  • Eco Pro

It's a 2014 650i Coupe.

thanks!

Maybe when they added automatic start/stop they changed Comfort+ to Eco so there aren't quite so many options to flip through. There's not much of a difference between Comfort and Comfort+ anyway. I use it for highway cruising - otherwise I stay in Sport. The only time I'm in Comfort is when I forget to hit the button to move to Sport.

If I had those choices, I'd probably cruise in Comfort to keep the car from doing weird Eco-friendly things that save hardly any fuel while messing with my A/C, etc.

On a slightly interesting side note, I'm currently in a 528i loaner, and I'm only getting 1-2 mpg better in that 4-cylinder turbo than I am in my 2012 650xi (11.5 mpg v. 9.5 mpg - almost exclusively city, obviously).

I have auto start/stop and I have comfort+. Comfort + is a noticable difference to me. Comfort seems like 'normal', then sport and sport + which turns off traction. comfort+ really smooths out things and is a bit eco. I use eco plus for freeway commute to and from work (at least I am now), I think the eco settings can be helpful that way but there is just no way its going to do anything for you in all city driving.

What is the production date? maybe comfort + is after a certain date? IDK, did you call your dealer?

Comfort+ should be part of the option "Driving Dynamics Control with ECO PRO mode". That option appears to be standard in the U.S. anyway. Not sure where the O.P. is located.

I drive almost 90% of the time on comfort mode as I do a lot of highway driving; sport mode occasionally for fun but never pushing it too hard, and almost never on the eco pro mode.

It's a March 2013 build (MY2014), with the Multifunctional Instrument Display option included and the latest iDrive, matching the options of July/August 2013 builds.

I thought perhaps they removed comfort+ after a certain date?

I will also check with the dealer.

My late December (2013) build of a 2014 640 ix Vert has all the selections available (comfort, comfort +, Eco, sport, and sport +). I think they owe you one.

Understand. I would want to know where it went.

But I would just let the dealer look for it the next time you are in for service. It is not a useful feature, and as others have stated has perhaps been superseded.

I may have figured it out, what options/packages did you get on your car?

I think Comfort+ would be part of option code

223 Dynamic Damper Control

or

4U2 Driving Dynamics Control with ECO PRO

Not sure which. Check the sticker from your car and look for those options. Both are standard in the U.S. but may not be standard in other markets.

No its cause its a euro car. There is a suspension option (some say standard) on the euro (ROW) cars that remove the comfort plus

mine is 2013 650gc, I have the comfort plus option, when you are driving the car in city, you almost can not tell the difference between comfort+ & comfort.
However, when you are cruising on the highway, the comfort+ is really awesome. I used it when I travelled to NY, all can say is the 650GC is the most comfortable car I have ever owned, you will almost feel you are siting in a mb S CLASS.

Digital dash

I have a 2014 Grand Coupe with the new digital dash. Mine has the Comfort+ and the Eco mode. The dash changes as you change the different modes. Wish I had this dash on my M6 it's awesome.

Really? I test drove a 2013 and loved the dash. Then drove a 2014 (at night) and thought the dash was gimmicky. Hoping I get used to it?

It's my understanding that the new digital dash will be the future for BMW. The new mini Ht will have some of it and the i8 will have most of the Sports digital dash with the double arc. Have an M6 with the analog/digital dash which is OK but I love the new digital dash on the Grand Coupe. Seems the digital dials are a wee bit more accurate based on speed. Guess either is fine as long as it does the job. My wife took ownership of the GC so I don't get to drive it that much. Ordered a new Mercedes that has the digital dash also, so will have to compare when it arrives. Thanks for your thoughts.

That's what I'm told too "get used to it, they all will have it"

Makes it a lot easier to upgrade things that's for sure (think iPhone...)

Do you have either of the adaptive suspension options (dynamic damper control or adaptive drive)? I have comfort+ on my UK GC but suspect that's because I have adaptive suspension. I think the American cars all came with DDC at the very least, which is why they all have comfort+, whereas Euro cars (atleast in UK) its all optional.

I'm in a 328 loaner, getting low-19 MPG, compared to my usual 12-14. Potentially influenced by my quest to see how many times I can get the HP meter to hit 240...
