Coming Soon - Modified/Upgraded Turbos, Methanol, & Custom EuroCharged Tune

I contacted EuroCharged in Houston, TX and spoke with Jerry Thornton who owns the company. We will be installing modified/upgraded turbos (similar to what AMS and Vargas offers). The new turbos should have a flow rate good for up to 800whp.

After swapping out the new turbos Eurocharged will be custom tuning the car to the upgraded turbos and methanol injection. Eurocharged has the best dyno machine that DynoJet offers (model: 424xLC2) which includes the Eddy Current Load Control option and the 424 Linx System option. This means the front wheels of the m6 will be spinning at the same speed as the rear wheels giving it a true rolling experience (the m6 won't throw reduced power warnings).

I am hoping to achieve 750-775whp and I think it's absolutely possible given that I have seen an m6 without upgraded turbos and methanol pushing 724whp on a custom tune using the DynoJet.

I will post follow up posts as the project progresses. This is really exciting as long as I don't break the drivetrain in the process... lol!

It should be a wild ride once all said and done. We will baseline the car with the current setup and then get a final number from the DynoJet.

Jerry did call me earlier and said their DynoJet machine doesn't provide a "wildly high" number like other DynoJet machines. Jerry said their machine provides a more true/accurate number due to their machine having the Eddy Current Load Control module. Jerry said this provides what they have tested/validated to be a more accurate number given various C63 Mercedes they have tested. So the number won't be wildly high like some DynoJet machines but the baseline will show the increase from my current setup.

He also said (which is refreshing) they know the breaking point of the DCT (or have a good idea) and can limit the boost pressure in the given RPM range so we don't grenade the transmission. He also said from what he has heard the axles and half-shafts will break before the transmission -- which is a good thing.

We are going to tune for maximum power on methanol. We are either going to wire in a relay to the fuel pump for the fuel to shut off in the event the meth pump fails or wire in a buzzer inside the car if the meth pump fails/stops flowing.

I think the axles and shafts are the weak link, that's usually the case.

If I were you I wouldn't tune it to meth, because then you would have to depend on meth, in your case I would allow jb4 to control meth, that way you can always go to stock boost, and btw get ready to get a clutch as well

I've talked a Jack at Jacks Transmissions who does a lot of trannys for the GTR guys. He can upgrade the clutches so it's an option if I want to move forward with it. I didn't get pricing from Jack yet but word is once all said and done (labor, upgrade, shipping) I will be in it for $5-6k.

I think for right now I am going to take it one step at a time. I am going to see what the tune actually puts down because at this point it's unknown. If I at that point I feel I might need to upgrade the clutches I will definitely dive into it more with Jack.

I have went back and forth on whether to tune it for meth or not tune it for meth and it's for the exact reason you stated (I will always have to depend on it). From a safeguard standpoint I have a 6.6 gal tank, I have an LED indicating "low tank" located on the rear view mirror assembly, and I have another LED mounted in same location indicating if the pump has built pressure (squirting liquid). I also have a wideband gauge mounted next to the Alky control box so I can "test" the system (with the test button) and watch the air/fuel change indicating the system is working/squirting.

As for the JB4... I would like to avoid simply "upping the boost" with the JB4 box as a "tune for meth" because although this is working for people I personally think there are other variables you have access to in the ECU that would result in a safer more efficient way to tune for meth. I say "personally" because nobody really knows what the car "adapts" to pertaining to timing and fuel when you up the number on the JB4 box. At least with the ECU tune you absolutely know what those numbers are set at and can control them.

I do understand your point in that I might not always want to run meth which is something I have taken into consideration. I am hoping sooner or later we will have ODB2 access which will then allow us to easily change maps (pump gase, race fuel, meth, etc, etc). That would eliminate that concern for sure.

Still waiting on the turbos to be built. Last I heard they were at the machine shop last weekend. Sure is taking a long time if you ask me but then again I have no experience with how long this type of stuff takes so maybe I am just being impatient.

I am having the clutches upgraded as well to a clutch pack that supports 900ft pd of torque. Along with the clutches I am going to use a billet clutch basket and install a new pump w/ bronze bearing.

Word is there are only a handful (if that) turbo manufactures that upgrade the turbos (here in the US). So when you have places like AMS and others selling them they are not building them in house -- they are having someone else build them and then they brand them.
