coded my M6

Coded my M6 last night. Unlocked all the goodies like DVD-in-motion, unlock doors when engine stop, open and close windows from fob and comfort access, remove legal disclaimers, remove seatbelt warnings and my all time favorite, fold mirrors from key.

For anyone interested in doing this, it's really not that hard and very rewarding to unlock new goodes

I did mine last night as well.

Didn't bother with the seatbelt chime but went with:
  • Radio Switch off when drivers door opened
  • DVD In Motion
  • Wifi Hotspot
  • Turnsignals in HUD
  • Current GPS position display option in iDrive
  • Welcome Home lights - Soft On/Off (Initial impressions that it doesn't work great and I may switch it back off/try other options)

Few other bits that I can't quite remember as well.

That’s not what it’s for. It’s for connecting the car to a DLNA media player over WiFi.

It’s too big a subject. Just google E-Sys, BMW Coding and Coding cheat sheet and you’ll find all the info you seek.

I will be coding mine tomorrow. Total cost about $15. I will post up the instructions and a link to what you need.

Need:
- iOS app Bimmer Code
-Vgate iCar 2 Wi-Fi OBD adapter $15 on Amazon.

Check out the website: http://www.bimmercodeapp.com/

Hope this helps. I tried contacting locals that code but seems that no one is interested or what?s $200.

Good luck.

There's nothing more rewarding then doing it yourself, but for those of you aern't that technical/good with computers, might be better to let someone else do it.

The features you unlock are definitely worth the effort.

Wait so all I have to do is download that bmwcodeapp and plug in that Vgate iCar2? No laptop needed?? That is a lot more convenient than what I had to deal with a couple of years ago on my n54.

Also, any difference between the $22 and $12 ones? Some are even the exact same colors.

I got one of the $12 ones and it came DOA- I recommend the $21 one with wifi as I think it will work better. Just my 2 cents.

I downloaded the Beginners Guide to Coding (Getting Started: FDL Coding) PDF, and the cable quoted on Ebay is from a US address (which adds they may not ship to UK!).

Anyone know which is the correct cable I can get in the UK for my 2014 M6? A link would be great...

The cable is extremely simple its just an ethernet wired to and ODB. Just search for E-Sys cable on ebay and buy any one of the hundreds that come up or you can even make your own.
