Another 1200 mile Break-in Service question-Manual Guys chime in

Yes, I searched and didn't find the answer.

This is for"manual" Ms only. I had my break-in service done today at 1256 miles.

They mainly changed the oil/filter and differential oil. I thought they were supposed to change the transmission oil/filter as well but my SA said that BMW no longer requires this to be done. The actual service pamphlet states the transmission oil/filter is an optional change? I also checked with another dealer and they have stated that the tranny fluid does not need to be changed.....

Ok, thoughts and/or experiences on this?

They are correct. The tranny fluid wasn't changed on my manual M6 either. Keep in mind previous M cars were more high strung while the present generation are more just higher horsepower versions of regular BMW engines.

Thanks, I was also told that the SMGs had the tranny's done (for really good reasons!) but, some of the M3/4 guys are reporting that they DID have it done on their 14/15s. Probably why our manual states that it's optional. Not too concerned either way since it's on them if shit goes wrong. My SA printed out my request on the work order which also stated it wasn't needed by them.

Same here. Engine oil/filter and differential oil. No manual tranny oil.
