I was told there was metal in the oil filter I’m not an auto mechanical person and my husband is not as well. So rather than go down that road of extensive repairs we thought we would try to sell it.

Sorry to hear about the engine trouble and sincerely appreciate the honesty about the condition of the engine.

That said please be very cautious about leaving personally identifying information such as your phone number esp given the fact that your user name incudes your first and last name. My initial reaction to the post was that it may be a scam. I am not looking to substantiate your ownership but I work in cybersecurity and was able to piece together enough publicly available information to lower the level of suspicion.

Now back to the car. In regards to the engine you could very easily purchase a rebuilt engine and have a third party/independent bmw specialist shop perform the swap for you. Typical cost would be well under what a BMW dealership would charge. Total cost would likely be under 15k dollars. If you factor that into the current market value for a well spec'd M6 you'd close to fair market value for the car and have many more years of fun and reliable ownership.

If you have a copy of the build sheet for the car that would be safe to post and the vehicle vin number is pretty safe as well. Or go visit mdecoder.com enter your vin, then take screenshots or copy each field in a notepad on windows or text editor on apple then paste the contents. The build spec's will help others determine if buying the car and repairing it would be economically viable.

Again, please consider going back to your initial post and removing your phone number and please be vigilant about being contacted directly for the sale of the car. There are a lot of great and trustworthy people on this forum but scammers also lurk every where.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Wishing you much success on the sale.

Best Regards,
-noah
