Terraclean
I am curious, how many MPGs are you guys averaging on your 640Ds ?
Mine is a 12 plate with 47k miles and I do mostly motorway driving on Comfort+/ Eco Pro - and as my friend said, I drive like a granny However, I am getting 30.3 MPG I thought the quoted figures were 50 MPG but to get 30 MPG from motorway driving seems odd. Do you think Terraclean can help clean those carbon deposits and improve the mpg ? How about cataclean ? |

Never tried it myself but have heard good things re performance/pickup and improved mpg. That does sound low to me though. I did a 45 mile trip on sat all motorway and got 46mpg traveling at 70mph for reference.

I have a 2014 640d and it currently sits at 46k mileage wise. Had it from new as was my previous 640d and never had an issue with the same kind of mileage achieving 40-50 mpg if I drove normally. You didn't mention how long you have had the car, if the previous owner very rarely used full throttle and neither do you there could be an issue that terraclean may be able to rectify although from their website the testimonials are from individuals who have had their cars for many years with high mileage.
I think before you try it though, get it checked at a main dealer to make sure everything is running as it should, because with the mpg you are getting from the way you are driving it something doesn't seem right. Last edited by Coops395; 01-24-2017 at 03:14 PM.. Reason: Hadn't finished. |

Guaranteed way of ruining a Diesel engine I'm afraid. Diesels need nice runs at full temp for best combustion and correct operation of the DPF which you absolutely do not want to replace (cost). Petrol and hybrid best for short runs like that I'm afraid.
