Seeking Advice on Engine Oil for 2015 640i N55 Engine

Hey everyone,
I'm planning to do an engine oil change for my 2015 BMW F06 with the N55 engine, and I'm seeking some advice on which oil to use. I've been considering Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W40, or should i go with 5W30? Summer temperatures can reach as high as 40° C or 104° F, but they are usually around 33° C or 91° F. Car has 80k miles.
Additionally, I'm curious about the differences between the US and EU formulas of engine oil. My car is US spec but i am currently living in Europe.
Would it be okay to opt for a EU formula, or are there significant distinctions I should be aware of?
Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Owners manual also recommend BMW LL01, would you be fine with LL04 or should i stick to the manual?

Any reason why you go with 5w40 instead of 5w30?

I've been using Liqui Moly 5W-30 for years in my current N55 and past N55. No reason for 5W-30 weight other than that's what it calls for and it doesn't get crazy cold here. Some good info here: https://blog.fcpeuro.com/heres-why-l...actually-works

I use 5-40 euro Castrol as well. It's LL01 and easy to get locally in 5 quart jugs. If there's one thing I've observed in forum participation it is that people tend to overthink oil.

Hey Opie,
Would there be a big difference between 5w30 and 5w40 in viscosity? Would 5w30 be better consumption wise or should i stick to 5w40 considering the mileage?

I think you are proving my point about overthinking it. I can tell you that I have never had to add a drop of oil between changes and at most the level indicator in iDrive drops one notch - which I think is 1/4th quart.

From the owners manual built into iDrive (this was my 2013 650ix GC)…but this info is in all new BMWs with iDrive…simply do a keyword search for OIL to see what oil viscosity BMW recommends for your vehicle.

And some examples of oil that can be found at Walmart that is sold in 5 quart jugs for some cost savings.
