Expenses when finishing lease
Hi everyone,
I have a question to everyone who leased a vehicle. My lease is expiring soon and I would want to know what expenses are usually come up when you return the car? Like paint corrections charge, tires, etc. I could not find any info, so want to find out as much as possible. Thanks in advance! |

With BMWFS, you will have a $350 lease disposition fee (waived if you lease another BMW or buy your current one), plus any reconditioning expenses.
Those include Tires Windsheild Dents/Dings/Paint issues And of course other things like leather tears, etc. BMW will send you a nice little tool that tells you how much your tires need to have on them as well as how big of a dent/ding you can have. If your windshield is chipped beyond a certain point, that's bad too. Last but not least, the tires all need to match (no throwing the cheapo tire on a single wheel). One of two things will happen when you return the car 1. The dealer you return the car to, no matter what BMW dealer it is (does not have to be your original dealer) can purchase the car. If he/she does this, they will sign off on it the way it is and you are free and clear and will owe nothing (you might have put down a security deposit when you first leased and you will get that back minus the $350 disposition fee - in the mail). 2. The dealer will accept the car and then turn it over to BMW. If this happens you have to wait for BMW to approve the car and they will send you a bill for anything they don't like. I personally have had both happen* The dealer bought my car and BMW has taken the car. Neither time were there any charges. Ultimately they want you to be very pleased with the experience and want to lease another BMW -so rarely are they super picky. Then again, if you have trashed the thing, well you are going to need to pony up some cash. *Make sure the dealer knows you want your plates back. One time the dealer folded them up right in front of me (I was on my way to Spartanburg to pick up my new BMW and I needed those plates!). They ended up ordering me new ones after about 10 emails and phone calls.

Thanks for the great reply!
My car, overall, is in great condition! I took great care of her, but obviously have some tiny stone chips and 2 smallest dings. Also have pretty small scratch when someone parked next to me and scratched me with their doors. And, of course, on the wheels I have curb rash Any idea what happens about those? |

It sounds like you will be just fine. BMW expects the car to have some wear - that includes some dings, stone chips, and yes, curb rash. No worries!

I think most times the biggest charge will be mileage overage. When I turned in my M6 cabrio a few years ago (it was a 2008 model I turned in late 2010), they said there was a crack in the rear bumper and the rear bumper cover needed to be replaced....they only charged me $400 for that on the lease end statement, believe it or not.
BTW, I believe Benz charges $795 for their lease disposition fee....ridiculous.
