Andrew,

Stunning car mate, one of the nicest you had. Love the colour and the interior is something very special indeed.

Great write up as usual, looking forward to the 335d review :-)

I'm also really unhappy with the typical BMW paint finish - the level of orange peel is truly shocking. I had this (but even worse) on a new M3 a couple of years ago and I took the brave decision to have it wet sanded, after which it looked exceptional. I'll need to be feeling very brave to do this again on the M6!
i have to agree. the paint jobs on todays BMW (and others of course) is a joke

Still running the car in but even sticking to the 5,500 rpm limit you can feel the difference just pulling away from the dealership. I went for a drive through the Malibu canyons on Labor Day - this drives so much "smaller" than the M5

I have been an M5 guy for 20 years now and this is the best sorted M we have had since the E39 (and I think it is even better than that)

can't wait to have it run in

Interesting. I am just curious about the ceramic brakes. Everyone usually says ceramics are a complete waste of money and that they perform just as well as normal steel brakes and that you have to warm them up to work properly. Even in the Porsche cup for example they use steel brakes. So I am wondering if what you feel is just a impression or if it's because of the bigger brakes in general.

Anyways. congrats. M6 GC is the best car out there!

Beautiful, but every time I see a British spec car I always think back to Caddy Shack on how the judge tells Tie to get the steering wheel over to where it belongs hahaha. Enjoy!

Ceramic brakes/handling

I wish my car had the ceramics. I feel like steel brakes are weak and not the right equipment for such a heavy powerful car.

To the other CP M6GC owners: does your traction control constantly flicker every time you you do anything besides mellow driving?

Thanks for that....I've got over the disappointment now but that makes me feel better. I'm looking at replacing the missus's E350 CDi Coupe for an M135i and they're even fitting iDrive tocuh in the 1 series now

After nearly not going for them, I now actually think they look better than the normal 20" wheels - in real life they give it such good stance as they're so heavily concave'd at the rear and are even wider than the 20" 343M's

I can only assume that any negative comments about how ceramics perform in real life are from people who've simply have not driven BMW's ceramic system or have some other agenda.

I can confirm these are outrageously powerful and effective in all circumstances (and being in the UK, during the last week I've had hot, wet and today, much colder weather). Theres none of the negative aspects that I've read about in other cars (Porsche included) such as initial delay's when pushing the brake pedal, poor response when cold, unprogressive nature or unwanted noise. I can only assume this was characteristic of earlier ceramic systems as none of this is present in my car.

Also, the brakes are only marginally bigger than standard so don't think that size is the reason for the performance.

Yes, this happens a lot!

Yes, it's one of the most noticeable improvements! Night and day with my MY12 and in particular, the extra responsiveness (so you need to turn the wheel less) is the best improvement.

And to all the jokers who claim my steering wheel is on the wrong side .....I'm afraid you'll find it's definitely on the 'RIGHT' side (in more ways than one!).
