Brake service indicator will not reset..
Chaps,
Changed the front pads and swapped over the old wear sensor to the new pads... But following marks instructions on resetting the service indicator it just keeps telling me rest unsuccessful... I definitely know that the old wear sensor was not activated before I changed the pads... I have tried with handbrake on and off and on many times today... But it will not have it... What am I doing wrong.... Should I fit the new wear sensor and try again... I know had this issue when I did the rear lads before but ecventually it just reset.. Your help will be appreciated... Cheers Al. |

All you are doing is resetting the service indicator so it starts counting the miles down again for the next brake pad change. It doesn't know whether you actually did the job.
Does the car drive and brake OK? Maybe you did reset it and it doesn't like being reset again. What does the iDrive tell you about when the next change is due. Reset is 37,000 and 39,000 miles. Are the new wear sensors properly installed and plugged in? If all this looks good, then give it a rest and try resetting again tomorrow |

Hi mark
Glad you are online and reading... Hope your new car is going well... Looks really nice... It's definitely not reset.... It still shows Amber with 1100 miles to Go and clearly states reset unsuccessful... Each time you turn the car on it shows service Reqd My plan is going to have to wait now til next weekend... Chaps on the other forum I visit reckon the sensor first stage has prob been activated ( although I thought it looked OK??) and consequently it will def not reset...so I am going to take the wheel off and just plug the new sensor into the connector box up in the wheel arch.. and try a reset from there...if it will reset, I will carry on and replace the sensor for the new one... Don't need to remove the pad for that and at least the changing pad jobs already done... I wil keep you updated... Thanks Mark Al |
