How is your day going?

This was less than a half mile away from where I get the car cleaned, after I left.

What happened? Going to be able to get that custom exhaust replaced easily?

F150 decided not to stop for traffic in rush hour and pushed a Volkswagon Jetta into me.

That is a stock M6 comp exhaust on my 650 :-)

It wasn't damaged, just pushed down. Looks like bumper cover, light, and some structure under the bumper cover. Will know more when it gets to the shop for repairs.

Just sucks because I sold my truck a couple months ago, so now I'll have to get a rental while it is getting fixed.

Drivable, but ugly.

Guy had minimum insurance, their claims adjuster told me I would be better to go through my own insurance....

Wait until they talk to my legal department :-D

Wow, sorry to read of your bad luck here. What's 'minimum insurance'?! Over here in the UK would that be 3rd party fire & theft? At a minimum, one needs to be insured for the 'other guy' you might crash into??

In my state, the minimum you are legally required to have is $25k in liability insurance, although it is sporadically enforced. If the guy actually had insurance, then surely he had at least that much?? So what exactly did his carrier mean?

There was a Volkswagon Passat in-between us that got front and rear end damage. If it is totaled out he might exceed his $25k maximum payout. His insurance told me to get it into a shop, and they will get me a rental.

It goes into a BMW certified shop on Tuesday. I expect to be without it for a month... mainly waiting on parts.

Yes, they have to have liability insurance, but the minimum they need to have is $25,000 US, or roughly 20k pounds.

I never really thought about how you determine who gets priority when there is not enough coverage to repair multiple cars.

Picked her up this afternoon.

They did a great job on the bodywork.

Had to get an exhaust shop to do the exhaust because It is M6 comp mated to the 650 M-sport.

Recommend Relentless Collision in Cary NC, and Henry's Exhaust in Raleigh NC. They both did great work.

A little over a month from wreck to finished is remarkable these days.

The only thing that had to come from Germany was the exhaust. Everything else was state side, and at the shop within a couple days.

But usually it's the shops themselves that are backed up. If I went to a good shop here with that damage they would schedule me for probably late January to early February.

Most highly rated shop for BMW/Mercedes/Tesla in the area. The only one that is BMW certified (whatever that means).
