So the Competition Package is Gone for 2016?

The online configurator doesn't have the Competition Package any more. I've seen people talking about it being available later in the year, but wonder if we have updates on its availability. I am planning to order an M6 GC MT this week. Will I have to order the car without CP now, and then just see whether I can update to add CP if it becomes available between now and build?

Because 560 HP doesn't seem enough, I really need 575. I liked the black exhaust tips!

Thanks.

Oh, I didn't see somebody posted on this issue like earlier today. I saw the guy asking about it a few weeks ago. Assuming no CP is available now, my only lingering question is whether I can add that at the last minute before actual build, if it becomes available in the next few months.

Thanks.

If your car hasn't started production aka status 150, you can still make changes. You run the risk of having it delayed if you do so however- so if you want to wait for a CP m6, I suggest waiting until it's official that it will be available, because as of right now, no one knows when.

Source for knowing CP available in July is the latest German market price list and brochure. It does not sound as though there is much different, wheels maybe. The information is very sketchy and quite unfathomable! Maybe they will include the M Performance (Akrapovic) exhaust instead of one with different coloured tailpipes.

I am told now that the Competition Package is available, just not with a manual transmission, and that I cannot get 601 wheels unless I get the CP. So I guess I still go with the manual and wheels I like less, and I cannot get the CP. Does anybody else have experience with getting manual overrides, getting BMW to build cars that are not on their standard option sheets? I'm ordering it with an individual color and a manual. What is it about the CP that makes it impossible? Programming that's part of the engine that mates with the dual clutch or something? My dealer guy says they're like a Chinese restaurant: "No substitutions!"

Do you have a description of the package? Is the code ZCP?

Not sure if it's the same as the UK, but in the US, the Competition Package is listed under option code ZCP. Furthermore, ZCP specifies tire packages, performance upgrade (+15hp), enhanced sport suspension/dampener, specific MDM application, enhanced steering, sport exhaust with black chrome tailpipes.

I'm just curious how the '16 Comp Pack you ordered is different from the '15 CP (ie. +20hp?).

It looks like my car is on a similar build timeline as yours (car just finished production). Given that, I tried to add the Competition Pack "ZCP" but it was NOT available on my order. Many threads talking about the CP on this forum point to July or later for ZCP to be available. If yours is on the same timeline there is no feasible way in my mind your build would be able to have this option.

His profile says 2015 m6.

There's no reports ANYWHERE on the comp package for the 2016s, so he might be a little confused.

welm6. We are referring to the 2016 model, not the 2015. Could you please post a photo of your order or as asked, the option code? Because no 2016 in the world has the comp package available right now. Hopefully your dealer didn't pull a fast one on you.

No, it's a 2016 model with the full leather, LED lights etc. the dealer says it is LCI model.
I originally ordered the car without competition pack , but changed the order to include it 4 days later!
Was called by the dealer yesterday to tell me the car was built last Friday and would probably arrive first week of May.
I asked him to confirm again that it has the competition pack, and he confirmed it had!
OK, how can I be sure it's a 2016 model car when I get to see it, and how can I be sure it has the competition pack?
Do I just look to see if the exhaust tips are black....
Cheers

For 2016 model year cars, the tenth character of the VIN# is a "G."

In the US, the competition pack would be listed on the window sticker as an added option, but I don't know if UK cars have the same thing.

To be absolutely sure, call the dealer and get the VIN#. Then telephone BMW customer service, give them the VIN#, and they will tell you.

Good luck!

2016 has different headlight/rearlight so it's obvious.
As far as CP, the black tips are the first thing you can check.
you can also check the vin number and see the list of options your car has including production date...

So will the dealer have the vin code if the car was only built last Friday?

Yes. The VIN# is assigned when the car enters production. We have ours for a '16 B6, and it just started production earlier this week.
