Gas Pump Shutoff

O.K., here's a minuscule thing: does anybody else have a problem with gas pumps (would virtually always be a Shell station) shutting off prematurely when filling the M6 GC? Like I know it's down to 1/8 a tank, it needs 18 gallons, so why does it shut off every few gallons? So I re-start it, because I know it needs more. Is it something about the shape of the filler neck? I've filled plenty of cars, and I don't think it's like I'm bad at this. It just seems to happen annoyingly frequently with my M6.

Happens to me all the time, but not only with Shell. Happens at other gas stations as well. Shuts off multiple times before the tank is full. I find that holding the pump trigger half way stops this from happening. But then it takes twice as long to fill up.

I thought this only happened to me

Same issue here. Gotta be something odd in the tank filler tube design that triggers whatever shuts off the pump handles? IDK but it is annoying.

If you push the nozzle to far in and the the rubber seal seals too tight it seems the there is splash back and the pump registers it as full (safety)

I do not push it too far into the curve of the filler neck and try and hold it more parallel to the inlet.

Its not a car you can jam in there lock the filler and let it run. Its a hold your hand baby it fill up and yes its a bitch!

O.K., it's nice to know i'm not crazy! I also do the thing where I put it on slow feed, and don't jam it all the way in. Still can be difficult. If that's the only bad part of my day, I'm doing fine, I know....

Does suck when it happens. That's why I always have to pay attention to roughly how many gallons I think my car needs, based on the fuel gauge.

Been having this issue since day 1, but I thought I might be the only one in the world if I complained about such a thing... lol now I know
There seems to be a design flaw where the nozzle air suction cups don't align well to the M6 inlet.

Just got a 14 m6 gran coupe and I can report the same problem. Good to know it's not just me!

Will try to insert it halfway next time and hold by hand as a previous poster reported.

Yes I see the same ... I never place the Gas Nozzle all the way in ... So it doesn't happen as often, but then again I do not squeeze the pump handle all the way either as I HATE WHEN GAS SPRAYS OUT AND ALL OVER THE PAINT

I had this issue on my M6, figured out an angle that would prevent it from happening 90% of the time. Move the nozzle around a bit and see if you can find an angle where it won't stop.

OK, now that I know I'm not crazy, I decided to try something. Last time I filled up, I put the nozzle in and turned it so the bottom of the handle was pointing down and to the right, like 5:00 position. (I would normally stand behind the fuel filler door and probably cock the handle between 6:00 and 8:00, without really thinking about it.) It didn't kick back. I'll keep trying that. I'm thinking there must be an angle at which it works. So far, I'm trying 5:00.

OK, the next time I tried 4 or 5:00, it shut off. So I tried it cocked at an extreme 8:00 and it worked.

it happens when you have an empty tank, there is air in the tank which causes this. Try holding the nozzle at 90% force it will fix the issue
