20x11 et 20

I have a 2013 650xi Gran Coupe M-sport and bought some rims are the rear are the size listed in the topic. I've seen one other chap on here who had this and he ran 285/30/20 in the rear. Can I get away with 295's?

anyone know?

Try this site out, if nobody replies. I think 295 is stock on the M6, but it might be too wide for a 650.

There are many things you have to consider...total diameter of wheel, width of tire, offset,...
On 11" rim you can install a tire as wide as 315, but again you need to know all other measurements...

What other measurements do we need than the ones provided?

Rims is 20 X 11 et 20 and tires are 295/30/20

One measurement is wheel diameter. You can calculate the wheel diameter based on your tire size.
The first number is tire's width in mm.
The second number is wall height aspect ratio.
The third number is rim diameter in inch.
For example the wheel diameter of 295/30/20 = 295 mm + 2*0.3*295 mm+ 20" = 26.968" which is 0.472" larger than your current tire (275/30/20) with 26.496" diameter.
Another measurement is offset. I believe the original M Sport package rim (373) is ET 44 and 9" wide . Your new rim is ET 20 while your rim is 11" .
Following the link jwblack750 posted, both setup have almost the same Backspace (172 mm vs 173 mm); however the new setup is slightly taller so you might experience some rubbing inside the tire if it touch the housing especially when you have passenger on back seat. On the other hand are expecting more aggressive look since you will have wider track (34 mm each side).
FYI my rear setup is 305/30/20 and rim is 20X10.5" ET 19 with no issue but my car is M6... I have no idea about 650i setup. I recall months ago a member here had installed M6 wheels on his 650i GC and he mentioned the same rubbing; however he said it’s not too much. Overall I don’t see major issue with this setup specially like I said your new setup is very similar to M6

It's not going to work IMO.. The 650 quarter panels and fenders are not widened out like the M5/M6 and the problem is that 19mm offset is for the M cars. The stock offset for the 650 is around 44mm so your wheel is going to stick out of the fender/quarter significantly. If the car is not lowered it may not rub the tires but it is not going to look right. According to this calculator and illustration http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp The wheels will stick out 1.4" further out than your stock wheels/tires.

Looks like this guy is running 285/30/20 with 20x11 et 20. He states in the thread he would switch to 295's. I've PM'd him with no response.

Oh it'll fit the bolt pattern but like I said you will not be able to lower the car and if you look at the first pic, the wheel itself not the tire is sticking out in the rear past the quarter by a good amount and just does not look right, you can also see it from the rear of the car the tire is going way past the rear bumper. Best thing to do is get wheels either made for the specific car you have or at least close in regards to the offsets, those wheels were meant for an M6. Trust me, I went through 3 sets of wheels on my 650 so far and I keep my eye out for HRE's or similar but till today all i find is M offsets and I won't use them as it looks like the wheels were not made for that car.

Also on a side note, he is most likely using all the negative camber that you can on the 6, and in that case you are going to kill the handling, ride quality, and the tire shoulders will get eaten up every 5k miles.

regarding that black car in the link, as far as i can tell from the pictures, the offset looks mostly ok. If you lower it like he did and put people in the back, rubbing looks doesn't look highly probable except on big dips on his current setup.

but make that 295 and it looks like rubbing. my last car rubbed all the time...hate hate hate hate f'ing hate that issue now after i burned through multiple tires

Thanks for the opinions, do you guys have any opinions on what optimal offset is for 20x11?

I would do +35-40mm for the rear, if you're doing 20x9's in the front do +25-30mm

There are tricks for getting it to work like pulling in negative camber to max, also an ET40 would be better but yeah I don't think a 20x11 is going to fit well on anything but the M.

I think you'd have to see this with a ride height kit pumped up to the highest it would go to be sure. That front up way higher than the rear would probably destroy your aerodynamics though - hate to be doing highway speeds and hit a really strong gust of wind. Too bad, it sure would be unique.

All kidding aside, that look on a truck I can understand. On a Bimmer

On my 2015 640 GC I have 20 X 8.5 ET 30 on the front, and 20 X 10 ET40 on the rear. 255 35 20 front ad 295 30 20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports, front and rear. No issues after 500 miles. The rears are pretty aggressive, and I wouldn't think any offset less than 40 might be a problem.
