2015 650 Convertible

We all love our 650s! We have an excellent 2015 with 27,000 miles that my wife and I want to sell because of non-use, and as we age, it's harder to get in and out of the vehicle.

With the crazy pricing of new car, I was hoping the members here could provide some insight as to value. It's equipped with most options except B&W audio and is rear wheel drive.

While most say their car is a perfect 10 when trying to sell, this one truly is.

Located in Jupiter, Florida.

What do you think the value should be? Thanks for the consideration.

That looks like my car except I swapped the 20" wheels for the 19". What color inside? Not sure what you mean by "most" options "except..." Does it have night vison, massaging seats, active sway bars, or active cruise control?

Anyway, except to certain buyers options don't make a huge difference in the used market. Low miles do make some difference. I look at these for sale fairly often. As a general matter, asking prices for 2015s are hovering pretty close to $40k right now. High miles a little less, low miles a little more. But the market is also softening. If I were trying to sell that car, I'd probably list it for $42 or so and see what happens.

Beautiful car! I have the exact car (with brown interior and red top), but more miles - 40,000. Valuation services put my car at $31,500. I think if you can get anywhere close to $40K you are doing very well. The low mileage is a plus. The F12 is a very special car, appreciated by drivers who know you took great care of it.

I paid right at $42k last year for my 2014 650i xdrive with 20k miles. So i Opie55 sounds spot on.

There are certainly a few sellers online who would ask that - asking prices vary widely - but I think that is just the sellers who were/still are a bit overly optimistic about the used car market. I doubt they actually get anywhere near that. Also, although low miles is one of the biggest price boosters in a used car, many sellers overstate the size of that boost in their asking prices. There are sellers who still ask nearly $30k for low mileage 650 convertibles from the prior generation that ceased with the 2010 model year although very nice examples can be had for half that. Anyway, do let us know what you are actually able to get. These do often sit for months unsold because the interested buyer pool is so tiny, so having it as clean as it can be made inside and out and really good photos against a good background is key. It always amazes me the number of people who take poor quality pictures with their garbage cans in the background, dirty floor mats and a drink in the cupholder. Of bigger sellers, Carvana has some of the worst pictures, probably intentionally. Poorly lit and far away.

I know I could lookup book values for various BMW 650s but I am more curious what BMW owners would view as realistic prices than book. Curious as to what you folks consider more, mileage or age. I see above Freddy has a 2015 650i convertible with 27K miles. I also noted Opie has a similar 650 and places value at roughly $40K.

I have a 2017 650i xDrive convertible with 70K miles. It does have MSport, HUD, Lane Departure Warning, Active cruise, Pedestrian Warning, and a couple of other options. And I agree with Opie for the used market options aren't a big differentiator. Which would you pay more for - the 2015 with low mileage or the 2017 with higher mileage?

Color in and out and options would be a big deal to me. If those were equal, and condition was equal, I might buy the newer car with higher mileage simply because a 2017 still has Connected Drive active and the better screen. But it would be a tough call to buy one with 40k more miles for more money at only 2 years newer. The better question might be which I would buy if they were the same price. Still a tough call.

Gee, I had thought 2017s all still had it. In that case I'd probably buy the lower mileage car. It's funny, but I used to really like black interiors - felt classy or something. Now they feel dark and cave-like to me and I much prefer ivory, although I wish it had black carpet.

If you've been looking at prices at all they have definitely dropped in the last year, over and above the fact that it is now a one year older car. Nice examples can now be had for high $20s. Your low miles might bump yours to $30 or a bit over.

Did you actually try to sell it, and if so, I'm curious what sort of interest you got.

I may be interested, can you either send a list of all the packages it has and general specs or post a picture of the window sticker?

Unless he has the sticker or knows these cars really well, better to ask him for the VIN and run it here:

What is the build date? The cut off/start date for MY17s being CarPlay-ready was I think 8/16. Aside from that bit though, a model year 17 should have been updated under a Service Information Bulletin to still get Connected Drive.

Here, I found it. I took this to a dealer last summer and they updated my system and got me on Connected Drive, SOS working, etc… no hardware was required in my case, just an update of the system.

Mr. Flintstone, would you mind posting your VIN so I may see the cars build?

I have a build date of 5/16. I was at dealer a few weeks ago and mentioned it. SA said no updates available for my car.
