Does the rear bumper need to be removed to install the m6 style eBay rear diffuser? Installing on a 640 with m sport rear bumper. I believe the answer is no, but I want to confirm before I get ahead of myself.

Unfortunately I don’t have an answer for you but I was thinking of installing a similar diffuser. I have 2 questions for you- do you have the standard 640i exhaust (1 tip on each side) and if you could post a pic after you installed it as well as the link to the part that would be great thanks!

Yes, I have the m sport rear bumper, so one tip on each side.

Update: yes it can be installed without removing the bumper but in order to get 100% fitment, it would be ideal.

Otherwise, it’s like 8/10. My first attempt was bad, fitment was off, I over torqued some center screws, which caused some sections to bow out.

Removed, carefully realigned and installed, and it is to a point now that is a acceptable for me.

If you’re a perfectionist, take the bumper off!

Great to know I’m glad it worked out for you! I’m looking forward to getting this done as well in the near future. Could you provide the eBay link and a pic of how it turned out?

If you have an m sport, do yourself a favor and buy the m6 upper diffuser and then you can source a lower diffuser. Or even use tye m6 lower diffuser. Nothing beats oem for fitment. If you have the 640 then for sure you want quad exhaust to fill up the space using the m6 diffuser. A popular option is to buy the m6 mufflers and install. Or get a pair of axle backs and have them welded on. The more expensive route is full cat back like Meisterschaff. They also have the remote control for your exhaust flaps. All depends on how far you want to go and your budget.
