Id say LL04 for you in France
For Petrol LL01 is still kept for countries that dont have good quality fuel. France like most of Europe has good quality fuel so can use LL04 and LL12 LL12 is not approved for all engines. Here we have too much sulphur in the fuel so have to use LL01 For Diesel LL01 is not approved for cars with particulate filters (So most euro Diesels) LL04 is approved for most LL12 is only approved for some engines BMW recommends LL04 for most current M Engines Quote:

Buy from the BMW dealer (BMW Twin Power Turbo Oil), it is the new SHELL GTL oil inside the bottle and very good. Quote:

BMW may have added something to their version, but they do not say. If it says BMW LL04 on the back of the bottle you should be good.
