[QUOTE=Ryan9095;14704942]My wife's 2012 740i has plenty of power when you need acceleration. It has plenty of torque to cruise in top gear without any annoying downshifts over hills. The exhaust growl is different than the 650's V8, but sounds good too. I believe the 640i is a lighter vehicle, so it should be better than the 7 series in these areas.

Haha glad to have induced a smile I have no issue with mixing...absolutely love my Porsche and the BMWs but I must admit nothing comes close to that sexy Italian styling and exhaust... It's perfection! I'll try to take some photos tomorrow when it's not pouring rain. Your car looks gorgeous by the way!!

Sorry to go OT here but presumably a flat plane crank can only be used in a V configuration? If in a straight configuration isn't there a danger the journals could be at 0/180?

By definition, the rod journals are 180 apart. I believe many 4 cylinder inlines have flat cranks as well as boxer engines. Where such a crankshaft is atypical is in the V configuration.

If you happen to shut of an inline engine and it stops with its flat crank dead vertical, as soon as you hit the starter it's rotating in the right direction. The rotational inertia of the flywheel takes it from there.
