Exterior light carpet retrofit from G11 7 Series
I know its a long shot but has anyone retrofitted the 7 series light carpet?
Very keen to see if anyone has had a go... surely it wouldn't be too hard? Last edited by cartaa100; 06-05-2016 at 08:35 PM.. |

I'll be following as I'm intrigued also. Shouldn't be too hard I wouldn't had thought.

It just a single light built into the side skirt, i would assume it would just be about cutting and wiring that light in |

As you guys can see, I been pretty entertained going through old threads. But this really sparked my interest as no one really moved on it. So two things I discovered.
1- To date, though, these lighting systems have been installed in either the exterior mirror or the door. This is problematic: When integrated into the mirrors, the light moves away from the path it is supposed to illuminate when the door is opened; placed at the bottom of the door, the light cannot reach the ground below until the door is opened. The seven solves this problem by placing it under the car behind the wheel. 2- company below has developed one, however it is 155$ US AND the YouTube vid is a bit sketchy. I asked them to make a closer video to see the detail. While I don’t expect it to be an exact copy of the lines on the 7, don’t want it to be cheesy either. Some of you guys that may have access to BMW authentic part guides may be able to find the exact part number on the 7 and the price. Which I am sure is going to be at least 2 arms and half a leg... EACH LOL... http://www.vagtune.in/bmw/bmw-lighti...lay-kit-detail |

Been in contact with him and seems like a decent product, they bought the original BMW unit for 1200$ USD and “reverse engineered”. I am interested and will give it a go. It’s universal for any vehicle and I like this concept so much more than those lights that show logos on the door when opened. Will keep you posted.

Found these on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2PC-Univers...daYt5L&vxp=mtr
I don't like how they mount below the car though. |

I've had a set of lights carpet projector modules lying in the garage for months. They would be a challenge to fit on the 6 because the car is quite low so I've been looking into ways to mount them. I'll spend some time on it again the coming weeks.
