What a difference a year (and a few months) makes.

I'm so excited, I had to share.

In December 2011, after successfully getting out of the lease on my '09 335i coupe through Swap-a-Lease and, thanks to the dealer incentive, I was able to get into an Orion Silver/Ivory '12 640i coupe for only $100 more a month than I was paying on the 3. I had my heart set on the convertible, but at the time, the payments were $150 more than the coupe which was a bit excessive.

Like many of you probably are, after getting a new car, within months, I'm usually already looking forward to the next car. I can honestly say that I love the 6 so much, that hadn't popped into my head once... until a few days ago. While playing around on the BMW site, I saw the lease deal on the convertible was less than I'm paying on the coupe. I then wandered over to the financial services site and saw my lease buyout was $55k which seemed a bit low. I went to KBB.com to find that, mostly thanks to my low miles (my office is only 2.5 miles from my house and in 16mo I've only done 12k miles), in good condition, I could potentially get $59k, and my car is in much better than just good condition. Still a bit skeptical, I went to CarMax. Lo and behold, they'll give me $61k!

After a few calls to my local dealer as well as a highly recommended broker my friend has used in the past, I'm proud to announce that this time this time next week, I'll be the proud owner of a '13 Sapphire Black/Cinnamon Brown convertible, pocketing $2k in the deal and saving $20/mo!

Has anyone else had such luck lately?

That's awesome!! I'm glad it worked out in your favor because it's noramlly a bit costly getting out of a car after one year. The vert looks great by the way!!

Sadly the deal on that car fell through, but luckily my broker found a black sapphire on black vert in Texas. It's shipping tomorrow and should arrive sometime between Sunday and Thursday. I'm giddy with anticipation! Photos to follow!

I'm so jealous! Every time I try to get out of my lease early I end up owing an arm and a leg. Congratulations the 6 is an incredibly gorgeous car you will love it.

Might as well go all the way and swap out for an M6 vert.

Congratulations. Getting out of leases is challenging. How was your experience with swap-a-lease? I've read horrible reviews. Apparently, it worked for you.

I used swap-a-lease to get out of my '09 335 coupe to get into the '12 650 coupe and was very pleased. If you've ever been on the site, you'd know BMW is the most popular brand so I was a bit skeptical. I first listed with the free service and got no hits. I then upgraded to the cheaper paid service with more photos and promotion and got a few hits but none too serious. I finally upgraded to the top service and got a serious bite within 2 days. Their customer service was extremely helpful too.
