Private plate builder - any recommendations?
Hi guys, just bought my first ever private plate - do you guys have any recommendations as to whom I should get to make my number plate up? Are those bolting holes universal or would I need to drill some holes myself? I assume that only the "standard" letters are legal? I saw some like carbon effect/ hi carbon which looks quite cool but wasn't sure if it was legal.
Finally, any ideas how I can go about replacing those plates? I was told everything was done online? Do I need to wait until the "new V5" with the private regi which matches the chassis number to arrive before I can bolt on those new plates? Thanks |

I went for the German style metal pressed plates for a 3D embossed look. I chose the standard UK legal font instead of the German font, coz I couldn't be bothered with being stopped all the time.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301941156763 I also bought a plate holder which you screw into the existing number plate holes and then you insert the metal plate into the holder so you're not drilling into the plate. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262418541531 You could also go for the gel embossed plates which are also quite popular nowadays. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322101289848 |

Here goes.....
If money is no object try fourdot http://www.fourdot.co.uk If you want metal legal plates try hills http://www.hillsnumberplates.com/ Last would be full house customs http://instagram.com/fullhousecustoms I went for Hills Ultratek and think they will last a lifetime and looks really good as the letters are metal and raised 😉 Happy selecting mate Last edited by darms; 05-12-2016 at 05:27 PM.. |

What do you guys think about the halo plates? Tacky or cool?
http://www.halonumberplates.co.uk/ Might need to invest in the Hills Ultratek as it looks really nice. You get what you pay for off eBay I suppose. |

Can I just confirm that these plates are all legal?
I don't want to be stopped by them cops all the time Also, with regards to the process, once I get that V750, do I just do everything online and then need to wait for the new V5 before I can put the private plate on Thanks |

Personally I think the halo ones look tacy as I've seen them on an actual car, but each to their own.
Fourdot and Hills are 100% legal as all are correctly spaced and come with bsi number and manufacturers postcode. Wait for ya v5 and you can get the plates done |
