M6 GC frozen silver

Hi all,

seems like I am obsessed. I bought an M6 E64 in 2009. Now with the children getting older I felt I needed something larger for long-distance traveling and went for a M6 GC. But selling the good old convertible? No way. I decided to keep them both. We took delivery of the M6 GC in late May. After 3 months all I can say is that both are great cars, but so different in character that it was the right choice for me to keep them both.

These are my first brief impressions:

Power: The GC CP is the very much faster car in almost every situation.

Sound: The E64 is equipped with an Acrapovic exhaust and the sound of the V10 in an convertible (especially in an tunnel) is unparalleld. The GC (with CP) is the much quiter car which is on the other hand great when you travel long distances.

Handling: High-speed stability of the GC is incredible, but I have not yet tried to reach the top speed as the car has only 4000 km on the clock. The E64 did 334 km/h last year (tacho, wich may be the limited 305 in the real world). On small mountain roads the E64 is more fun, probalby due to its shorter wheelbase and the lighter steering. The GC feels larger and heavier (and far more more rigid)

Cabin quality: Both have full merino leather, but the overall quality feel is better in the GC.

Paint: The E64 is carbon black (standard) and got a paint protection right after delivery. The car still lokks quite new, but the quality of the paint could be petter (you see some orange peel effect at certain lighting conditions). The GC is in frozen silver (individual): the overall quality of paint is much better and I think the car looks great in it as it reveals the great lines of the GC which are somewhat hidden in dark colors.

Breaks: both break good, but pedal feel with the CC breaks in the GC is much better. The CCs make noise, but only a few minutes after washing

Hifi: Had the M individual audio in the M64, now "only" the HK. Both sound good - no real difference.

Overall I am happy to have the choice: The E64 for sunny weekends and the GC for long distance travel. We also have a simple VW Golf as a working horse. Name: IMG_3688-4.jpg

You and I are almost identical. LOL! I did ED for my M6GC and I also kept my 2008 E60 M5. Congrats on the new beast!

Why there is so much debadging in Europe?
Most BMW s are most of the time without their model badge
I can tell what they are by their exhaust but is just a curiosity
