Best exhaust for M6?
Hello everyone, I've been checking out a few exhaust systems in the past few days. Akrapovic is sure the most expensive exhaust ($8000), but is it the best?
Meisterschaft exhaust costs about $5000 and sounds as nice, Eisenmann is a solid exhaust too. Including a few videos below, let me know what you think. Akrapovic: Meisterschaft: Eisenmann: |

I think it depends on what you goal is:
* If you're just looking for a sound, then pick what you like. * If you're looking for power, then see what matches well with tune/downpipes/etc. * Note the the Akrapovic also lowers weight about 24 lbs. and matches well to several tunes. * Note that the M-Performance exhaust is actually the Akrapovic and fits nicely into the warranty. |

The Eisenmann system featured in the EVS video is a race level which is a touch more extroverted. If you are looking for the Akrapovic equivalent check out the video below. This is the full Eisenmann sport exhaust. This setup includes the sport rear section with the non-resonated center pipe.
Akrapovic is also a great option and sounds intoxicating paired with a set of high flow catted down pipes.

the RPi GTM Exhaust gets my vote !! for about 1/2 the price of the Akra and IMHO sounds better in person too!
this is a video of what it sounds like (but its on the M5) |

Just got my akrapovic installed... sounds beautiful, dont get me wrong. Don't feel like it's worth the money though. A bit too quiet for my liking. I wired the valves open and it helped a bit.
Maybe a more aggressive axle back exhaust and down pipes will save you some cash and give you a more obnoxious sound. |

I know with these cars, it's a "pay to play" sort of mentality with certain mods, & I'm okay with that...but I'm curious to whether or not anyone has gone the custom exhaust route? I currently have a CLS AMG, and a lot of us opt for a custom exhaust and end up with really great sounding & performing cars...I have Kleemann headers, but other than that, all cats & the resonator have been replaced with a custom built exhaust, not a 5-10k "big name" option...So will I have to be the first to try this on a M6/5? Hopefully someone can shed some light on this from experience...

I have a valved exhaust from FI and i love mine. paired with catless downpipes and its amazing sound, however i dont feel like any option is really loud enough because of the turbos, they act like mufflers. compared to a S65 V8 or S85 V10. the S63 talks to you, while the S65/85 yell at you

I personally don't mind spending for quality. I know can be done cheaper for more noise. Whenever you go to sell the car it always helps when you have quality parts on the car. I am definitely not saying I have a problem with the cheaper just chop the mufflers off. Just saying I get the guys that do want to spend and have some quality parts on their car, be able to sell it in a year or trad it in, put back to stock etc.

I've had my M6 coming up on a little over 5 years now, personally I went with Eisenmann race exhaust rear section, titanium resonator delete and AA Catless 3.5" downpipes. Car doesn't sound muffled or have the in cabin drone like many of the muffler delete cars I've been in.

I have Meistershaft GTC full 3.5" exhaust and Fabworx 3.5" downpipes, Its loud with the valves open and stock like with them closed, its the best of both worlds,I get tons of compliments on how it sounds while driving around.
