Extended Warranty

Hello,

My warranty is up in month or so, shopping around for a new one? Any recommendations? Should I take one from the dealer?

Search on Google and you will find some BMW dealers selling EWs online a little cheaper than what you may find at your local dealership. But I read that last year BMW started requiring the car to be presented in person, so I'm not sure how feasible it is to buy online anymore. It goes without saying that you will pay the most this way. A top level EW was almost $10k in a quote I received and I believe that was for 4/60k.

You can also call up some used car dealers in your area that deal with high end makes. They will have aftermarket options for you. I ended up buying this way an EW from National Warranty. Supposedly they have a good reputation among BMW owners in this area. I paid about $4k plus tax for a 6/100k (6 years from purchase of EW, up to 100k on the odometer).

Fidelity and USAA also seemed to have good reputations when I was shopping last year. Fidelity covered my old Audi S8 and they made things easy. Good luck.

Thanks. I need 2 years at max, and don't want maintenance.. Thinking 4K at max would be good to spend, probably makes sense to look outside of BMW

Thanks guys! I can't seem to find online quotes, and trying to get BMW Manhattan service advisors on the phone is more difficult than a Tesla in space. Why exclusionary? Do you think it'll fit in my 4K budget?

Call CNA National Warranty in Phoenix and find a car dealer near you that carries this policy. I have a 4.5 yrs ( from now) 45K miles with a disappearing deductible if I use the BMW dealership that sold me the policy $200 at any ASE certified mech. Total cost was $3,000. Everything is covered except normal wear items. CarMax uses this company for there ext war. policies. Definitely the best price and coverage out there. BMW wanted $4500 for 2 yrs. 25,000 miles and $50 deductible. Crooks!
Good luck,

I have the BMW Platinum, purchased in Maryland because they gave me a $250 discount and Maryland has no saales tax on warranty so I saved $580. Paid $5,200 for a 2/70k warranty. You can go Gold for less (covers less). So far I have had two warranty claims, valve cover gasket (very labor intensive) and air mass meter. Worth it imho.

I just priced a further extension from USAA, I can get 2/24k for 2,300; 3/36 for $3,200 or 4/48 for 4,700. Its an exclusionary policy.

USAA has excellent extended warranties and I have used them before. I was looking for a 2 year on their site and it was less that $2K.

kilometers or miles? That is only 15.5k miles beyond factory

Even if miles, that seems odd, but depending on your current mileage and miles you drive a year may be irrelevant.

Yes I had 30K on the car when purchased it. I'm covered till 75,000 miles until 06/22. A STEAL compared to BMW. All you have to do is make a phone call. I think you'll be happy.

I'll call them Monday, have you had any repairs? If so, how was the experience. My car is like 4 months out of warranty at 49k miles. So idk if they need to do an inspection or anything.

Being out of war. you'll have to go a month before they will give you a contract to make sure there's no existing issues.I've heard there's a hugh markup on ex. war. ins.but i've also heard they're as good or better than BMW. I sure hope so. No claims yet.

My third party experience with Mercury was bad. They denied two claims as being existing issues (one was true, the other maybe), but they took 5 days to decide, costing me rental car fees. I decided to cancel after that.

My Assurant warranty from CarMax was great, paid out many thousands including a new transmission. Worked better at dealer than indie shop for some reason.

My M6 extended warranty from BMW has worked well twice, no issues on the repairs.
