Piano Wood faint scratches
Anyone else with the Piano wood finish noticing scratches on it? Any suggestions on how to get rid of the scratches?? I have banned the carwash folks from cleaning the inside of the car but it keep noticing faint scratches here and there. I tried ScratchX 2.0 this past weekend to no avail.

Your choice is to replace with a different interior choice, piano black scratches from the mere wind it seems, there are no choices other then never to touch basically and I'm not aware of any way to get rid of the scratches..there are many stories of the challenges on the trim..

that trim is notoriously known for small light swirls. The only thing that I can think of is to take apart the trim and have a professional detailer polish it out.

I've been in the car show circuit forever. Number one... do not use paper towels for windows or dash cleaning! Even wet they will leave scratches on any plastic surface! Use only terry cotton cloths.
For any plastic surface (clear plastic dash bezels, consoles etc, etc) this product is incredible. We recently had some scratches (you could actually feel with your nail) on our console at the outer edge of the cup holder) from a handle on a thermal cup. Back and forth motion (never circular... even when waxing or clay barring your ride) and the scratches were gone. Polish with a clean cotton terry cloth and, voila, like new!! Try it a little at a time until you're satisfied. Note, I am not a salesman (retired from all work crap for almost 13yrs!!) The product is named Novus, and here is a web site. Search elsewhere locally at auto shops or detail centers and they'll probably have it. http://www.amazon.ca/s/?ie=UTF8&keyw...l_4308932fln_e Good luck and report back to let everyone else her know. Do not ever, ever, never, never (Taylor Swift song, I think!!) use paper towels on your ride! They are bad, bad, bad! |

What I use is Swissvax cleaner fluid medium followed by swissvax Wood wax. It doesn't eliminate the marring but it does conceal it to some extent. Generally you should be very careful with the wood. I discourage anyone from touching it, and I clean it with Optimum cleaner and Quick detailer which is known to be a cleaner that is lubricates the microfiber to avoid any scratches.

However I can imagine your plastic fix may still work, since Laquer and plastic are similar things.

Yes unfortunately Piano Black is notorious for scratches. My dealer makes us sign a waiver because they are tired of the headaches. I ordered my Alpina B7 and originally wanted Piano Black (No charge option) but went with the Alpina wood because of this very reason. Absolutely no paper products to clean, much like cleaning a pair of eyeglasses. Soft cloth always wet.

How did you remove the wood trim in the center console? I'd like to take it out and polish out the scratches in the lacquer... Thanks! |
