How clear are your Reverse cameras?

I just got a 2018 640i and the rear view cameras are not that good (mirrors and trunk lid).
They were much better on the F30 and the F15 i had.

Side mirrors are "acceptable". But the rear one (trunk) sometimes goes red, blue, or green.
Could they be defective?

I will post pictures soon.

Interestingly, I have the same problem (various colors) with my recently purchased 2015 CPO 650i Gran Coupe. Will be interested to hear from other 6 series owners.

I messed with the brightness and sharpness settings on my car and it really cleared up the camera.

is your issue consistently occurring? Or dependent on lighting condition?

Right after i put it in R. I dont even move the car.
It`s more the left side and the one one the trunk.
Weird thing is that it doesn`t happen all the time. I wanted to take pictures yesterday and was all good.
This morning again...goes from red to green than to blue.

I will play with the settings tomorrow.

I also have a 2018 x3 and the cameras on that bun on wheels are amazing.

Seems like an issue. Mine are clear and never change colour.

I just looked at mine more clearly today. In shaded parking areas the rear camera is a blue or green hue....I'm going to have the dealer look at it.

But I have to see if it's simply lighting conditions that's causing this to happen.

Here are some pictures with the quality of my cameras.
2 were done at night. I guess the red on one pictures comes from the brake lights. But the quality on the trunk camera its not acceptable.
Day time, you can see the blue.
No changes after i played with the settings.

I will post pictures with the X3 cameras too.

This seems completely obvious, but I'll put it out there nonetheless....Have you looked at the camera itself to see if the lens is clean? Flip open the trunk lock (the roundel) and look at the backup lens...maybe a quick wipe will help. Same for the ones under each side mirror and if you have them, the Side View cameras that are just in front of the front wheels.

For info, my cameras (surround and reverse) are great when it’s daylight, but useless in the dark.

my cameras have a similar red/blue hue to it when taken in shaded areas such as parking garages. The night time quality also looks about the same as yours.

IMO, I think it comes down to lighting conditions. The cameras are terrible quality admittedly, but all your pictures look like what I see on my camera as well especially these two:

Compared to my old F30 the rear camera on the 6 in the UK is useless in the dark.

I mentioned it at the dealer and said it had been noted beofre and there is no fault.

the all round view in day time is great and saved a few wheel scrapes for certain.

It was sugested I change the reversing bulbs for something a little brighter. Not got round to this and proably wont as its going back in October !

I have the same issue with the rear camera, but it usually adjusts after a 10-20 seconds. Guessing it's the aperture adjusting to the light after the roundel opens.

Adjust the image. You have to find the right balance between day time visibility and night time. I think mine is fine.

Also, clean off the lens. It can get gunky after awhile.

Agreed. It's the most functional feature on my car. ha

As a side note, I have a 520d loaner right now...

It's cameras is clearly a generation ahead, but it's output is laggy. The camera on my broken 650i is more "true", if you know when I mean.
