As the title states, what is every ones guesses on what a 2014 GC will be worth in 2 years with say 40,000 miles on the clock? I'm debating picking up a used one at the end of the year for around the $100k mark. Going by my track record, I have at best a 2 year attention span before I move on to something else. I won't try to fool myself thinking I'd keep it longer. Over those two years, what's everyone's predictions on depreciation? $15k? $20k? $30k? It sucks because the GC is the only 4 door that really does it for me. The M5 is nice, but lacks the wow factor. I need the 4 doors for the wife and kids BTW. It seems that every "cool" four door suffers from catastrophic depreciation. I know you should just buy a car because you like it and not worry about depreciation, but I don't want this car choice to rob my car hobby piggy bank.

Depreciation on all M6s can be aggressive. If you're worried about depreciation then you will not be happy with the numbers they will be offering you in the next two years. That's why most honest salespeople in the states recommend leasing the M6 over buying it. I never listen though, this is the second M6 I buy. I just make sure I get my money's worth of enjoyment out of them before I let them go.

The M6 is horrible when it comes to depreciation. I picked up my car only a year ago brand new, MSRP around 120k. With 14k on the clock the BMW dealer wanted to give me 60k for the car when I took it in for appraisal. 50% loss in a year.

Glad I leased the sucker - drive it till it's gone back to the BMW CPO graveyard!

The other day I saw a 2013 M6 with 10K on the clock as CPO car.
MSRP 120K, sticker price 80K! 40K depreciation in one year!
I believe the residual value of M6 after 3 years is far less than 50%

The only draw back on such cars, as above, I've leased mine so worst case it just goes back at the end of the time I want to drive it, although keeping it 4 years for me is a long time, so may end up seeing what i can get trade in 3 years time, but im not going to be gutted to keep hold of this thing, because its one of the best all round M cars I've owned.

I payed just £73660:00 for a Recommended retail priced M6 GC Comp Pack (111K+ on the road).
So thats £37340:00 discount price.
I expect to loose £12K per year.
If I keep it two years I will expect to get £50K for it Part Exchange.
What I have found with the last two "M cars" is I lost £880 per month, which is well inside my predictions.
I always get as good deal on BMW cars.

You mean you paid??
I don't think "lost" is a good word for this... I believe we enjoy every penny we pay for these beasts
