2014 M6 variable engine braking

When I let off the gas it always slowed me down but now lol of a sudden it releases and throws the car what feels like neutral.
Any idea annyone? A sensor? Something that needs be changed with a computer/scanner?

Anything helps

Greatly appreciated

does the dash show that it is in neutral or does it just feel like it's going into neutral?

I’m not super familiar with the M cars, but is there a chance you’ve changed any drivetrain settings recently or accidentally put it into eco mode? (not sure if the M6 has this option).

I’m manually down shifting. So no, the dash doesn’t say it’s in neutral.

Pretty much it’s like using your gears to control your speed. For example if your in 3 gear, give it throttle, it gets up to 90 mph at 5,000 rpm and you let up off the gas, motor should slowly start decrease your speed, but for me when you release the throttle, speed and rpm’s stay and i coast rather than decrease in speed and rpm’s.

No change to drivetrain settings, none in which would cause my issue I don’t believe

It does seem strange that you can't engine brake. How long do you continue to coast in 3rd gear at 90 in your example?

Does this only occur in 3rd gear and/or in a held gear and/or at higher speeds? For example, if you get up to 60 in 4th and then downshift to 3rd at 60, would you slow down or continue to coast?

ETA:

Possible your clutch in the DCT is slipping? Do you experience any issues with acceleration, i.e., going the other way? Would be interesting if the problem only happens in odd gears and not even gears.

I would search other BMW forums as well since many models have the DCT.

Two posts on other boards with possible similar issues:
