Ebc red stuff rear pads fitted yesterday...
640d red stuff rear pads fitted yesterday...mileage 44000....
Exactly as shown on YouTube, apart from service indicator wouldn't initially reset. Parked in garage on flat with parking brake off and all reset fine.... Good bite from cold, and seem OK thus far.. 2 hour job... Taking my time.. Discs ok with just slight lipped edge at the mo..( they were measured by bmw last service for thickness and had plenty on them, no judder experienced, so pad change only this time..) Any further info reqd just ask... Ģ60 (uk) all in with new sensor... Cheers Al |

You will most likely destroy your standard discs with the red stuff pads .. they are too aggressive... but itīs certainly depending on the load ... not sure if itīs possible to go "fast" in UK ..
This combination would not be recommended for high speed sessions ... |

You can go fast in the uk....
At 3 o'clock in the morning, on non monitored speed camera roads... The rest of the time, you average around 25 mph...... |

I have had them on front and rear for a year and the discs aren't in any way destroyed. They reduce brake dust by a hell of a lot, have good/oem feel from cold, but do get better when warmed up a little and are a good year round pad. I can't say I have any negative comments on them.

Most likely there is no problem by using them in UK @ your common speeds...
I work in Germany and you may know that there is no general speed limit on German highways .. if you brake hard from speeds 130mp/h and above, the "aggressive" pads will overheat the standard discs .. |

Any chance of a link to where you got the pads and the YouTube clip? Did you have to do any re-coding? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks, Jon |

Here is my post about replacing pads and discs with links to YouTube clips. Mine have been fitted more than 6 months and feel great with so much less brake dust over the oh so hard to clean 20 inch alloys. http://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1275069 Redstuff pads can be found all over the place. Here for example for Ģ182 for front and rear together; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-640-EB...0AAOSwvU5XMx5Z No re-coding required. You just reset the timer in iDrive. Instructions are in my first link |

Very interesting to hear as I was considering the swap. In particular, I'd like to know how the pedal feel is improved. I previously had an F30 with full M Sport brakes but the feel was aweful. I swapped the pads out to Ferodo DS2500 and solved the problem, thus proving the fault in the pad, but they squealed like a Rally Car brakes! I find the F06 pedal nearly as soft too, and that's why I'd like to know.
And for reference, a serious contributing factor was people buying EBC pads from non-EBC stockists that served to damage EBC's reputation years back because they were sold cheap fakes. I buy direct from the multitude of approved stockists listed on their website for hassle free buying and all the performance I am expecting. And I would always replace as a full Front & Rear matching set. Shame they don't offer the discs for the 6er currently. |
