Wow.... thanks again guys. I will take my car to the dealer this week to have those things removed. I actually tried to push down on the front and back ends of my car and there was no play. Obviously, there is no movement with my suspension because of those blue spacers. I will keep you all posted once I have them removed.
Unsat.

I hade those blue spacer blocks removed from my springs this afternoon and it makes a world of difference. I can be excited to drive the car now, instead of dreading getting behind the wheel like I was doing for months. Good thing I kept the miles on the car low during the summer months when taking the bike to work instead.

I was just so amazed by how differently the GC feels now... what a machine! Now I know to do my own PDI before driving off in my next toy! lol

Well Samurai that is great! I still CAN'T believe how many folks on here had the same problem.. Clearly BMW has a PDI training issue with these spring spacers being removed at PDI. Any BMW service technicians out there want to comment?

I had the same thing happen with my 2011 e92. They only left one in...driver side rear. I noticed how hard it was going over a rail road track and then one day when I went over some speed bumps I knew something was wrong. Under 10 mph and it literally threw me off my seat. I parked and looked in the wheel wells and saw the little blue spacer. A quick search here of the forums and I found the problem. It's pretty sad how often they are missed during PDI. They are pretty bright.

The latest shipping blocks are the BLUE ones as above...not visible like the older style yellow fingers. If you see Blue..they need to come out..they are causing the ride quality problem. Believe me, I had the problem for 800 miles before the dealer admitted to forgetting to take the blue shipping blocks from my 2013 650i xDrive Gran Coupe...the ride was 100% better after removing the blue blocks. It seems to be a wider spread problem with many dealers not being trained on what to look for and how to remove them at PDI.

Ride Quality
I have a 2009 650i (not a GC). I had a fairly bumpy ride when I got the car (from the front seat).
I recently switched from 19 inch Bridgestone Potenza Summer RFT tires to 18 inch Bridgestone Potenza All-season RFT tires. Ride comfort is now great and I did not lose any performance. Plus, risk of a flat tire is now significantly lower. Switching to all-seasons or non-RFTs might help. |
