It has soft close which I could do without. Does have sunroof. Rev camera. sun glass. horrid dark poplar trim. Doesn't have heated steering which I'd like. Has 20" wheels to make my tyres even more expensive. And a few other bits but to be honest the six is already packed with stuff. Just that black interior to see really.

I would pass on the black interior too- this model has one of the best interiors in this class range worldwide. I dont think you would appreciate it if it was all black black.

The sunroof only vents (doesn't open) and I feel ruins the look of the car in any other colour bar black. If you do prefer more light in, then Mentos is totally right.

It all comes down to discount - if it is a massive huge discount (more than the current 12k dealer deposit contribution) - then sure go for it. If there isn't a massive margin, then order a baby in - doesn;t seem to be taking that long at the moment (can change of course).

Oh and yes pictures need to be uploaded on this site or I'll
Yes the sunroof doesn't fit quite aswell on the lighter colours (mine is black Sapphire). Its also only pops up an inch to act as a vent as you say. But with a black interior I'd have to spec it :/ the glass house is just too small in conjunction with our dull weather (the last couple of months excepted) and an all black interior.

I definitely agree the ivory shows of the class leading interior (as I said its even better then the 7 series IMO). But black still looks good given the extensive leather in the GC (as opposed to leather look plastic), and is much more practical if like me you soon get lazy with the upkeep

Oh and I also agree on the LED headlights, I think they will become common place in cars of this sector oVer my ownership, so it was a must to keep mine looking contemporary. Its a bonus that they look pretty and give a nice natural and even light spread mine is heavily specd but the other must have for me would be HUD.

I have the 373 20s aswell. Ill probably regret it when it needs new boots, but I think aesthetically the car needs them.

My GF loves the soft close and its so rare that it raises the eyebrows of most people. But I wouldn't have specd it if I hadn't bought a stock car. The only time its really useful is when you park in a tight spot and I prefer to circle the car park then risk dings by doing that.

+1

Another point for people intending to buy soon.

The offer is also with 0% finance - so say you were buying another 50k+ car you would be looking at around 10k on interest over 4 years.

Due to that I think if you can afford the payments then you are making a cracking deal.

Thus as you said ManicGT - car comes with so much; that even if you don't get all the extras. You are making a cracking deal.

Also is it just me, or does this diesel engine just not get the recognition it deserves - I am astounded by the stats.

What comes close to this for performance, economy and torque@low range. Honestly I ask that question -> please point me to one.

Great video review - very extensive - UK & 640d orientated

Might help you decide upon the black interior

I'd consider, as the car is white, putting a gloss black wrap on the roof, to join the front screen through to the back screen ala Merc's E class coupe. It should hide the sunroof and make it look more seamless.

Thanks for that. I still think black on black looks bland, at least on a screen. I'd much prefer a coloured interior I think, but I'll be better placed to judge this weekend after I've seen it in the flesh.

This is the interior I have now, and while it does require more maintenance, I much prefer it over fully black interiors and I'm happy to look after it.

What a beautiful car, though I must say the ivory Dakota leather in the 640d will have beige/ tan foot-wells and velour mats. This will require lots of maintenance and liberal amounts of scotchguard. While your car has anthracite foot-wells.

Though by the way you have maintained your car - I don't think it will be a massive issue - maybe invest in all weather mats.

The GranCoupe is quite sensitive to specification, in my experience of 4 extended test drives I was able to take in a 4 different cars: a Space Grey (Black/Black), Alpine White (Black/Black), Sapphire Black (IvoryWhite/Black) and Sapphire Black (Vermillion Red/Black) over 3 months.

Here are my observations:
1. The cabin area, especially on M-Sport models, is quite small so a sunroof and lighter leather does make it look bigger and brighter
2. The interior contours show off better with contrast leathers and are somewhat lost on Black/Black combinations
3. One a car this size, whatever your level of driving expertise, having Surround-View is probably a good idea to avoid low obstacles and kerbs
4. Cinnamon Brown and Vermillion Red interiors are a matter of taste, can make the car look more distinctive, but harder to part-ex at the best price later on.
5. The 19" alloys are good trade off for looks and ride, the 20" look good but are very twitchy and all but the most ardent BMW fans will be comfortable with the road feel on poor UK roads.
6. I have got the customisable MultiFunction instrument panel (LCD) and BMW apps to future-proof the car
7. The LED headlamps are an expensive option at £1650 but they make the car look sharper and more distinctive

The stock cars i have driven really left me underwhelmed. A standard 5-series GT is far better equipped than the stock 6 GC!!!

Thank you for your compliment. I do love my Z4, I've gone through some real quality issues with it and sods law, now I have it the way I want, I'm considering swapping it. I'm looking for something just as stylish (which is hard, because this car is a stunner), with more practicality, seats and comfort. This weekend will tell me if I'm looking in the right place with the obscenely expensive 6! I had originally looked at the 520D M Sport. It doesn't have the speed, but the comfort and practicality, with a level of style and presence. Looking at the PCP offers in the UK, given the %apr its nearly as cheap to go 6, hence the interest...

How did you find it honestly? Road noise? The 20"s quality?

I could not justify the money - still went and bought it No holidays - not going out - no cinemas -not going to many football matches. Really going to have to cut other luxuries.

Been asking the dealer to send me some photos -

He sent me this video!!

Funny video!

The power is immense, the handling good, the ride isn't that great, nervous on the motorway and crashy over rough surfaces, not terrible, but not great IMHO. Quiet tho.

I'm not parting with £60k because for me it offers all I have now but with two more seats that ill use now and then. Not worth the spend for me. Massive depreciation involved.

Great discount but its still a very very expensive car.

If I was coming from an average car it would seem amazing, but I'm coming from an already very good car and its not worth the outlay for me.

Going to pay off the mortgage and retire early instead!!

Its funny, I sit at the pub listening to my friends justify deals on cars as being good value (finance or heavily discounted). The simple fact is no matter how much you get off a new car, you're going to take a swift kick in the nuts come resale time (or when you consider how much you've paid the finance company for 3 years "rental).

Unfortunately its my one true weakness. I actively avoid going to see cars (even though friends and family often ask me to go with them as I'm decent negotiator and have had some nice cars). This car was a case in point, I promised myself (and family) it would be a sensible saloon (E class/5 series). Ended up considering a CLS, then a A7, then bumped my budget considerably more and bought the GC. Twice what I'd said I'd spend and not quite as practical as the bog standard saloon I was supposed to get.

Its just a good thing the QP hadn't been released before I pulled the trigger :/

Tell me about it! I was in exact same position as u! I think its the depreciation is what people talk about - you buy a 15k car and it would lose you say 10k max in 3 years. This car will do close to 30k lose. So I do get what you are saying.

However it is my vice, I spend a lot of time in my cars- I want it to be the extension of my room/office. A place where I can relax and enjoy myself

That all being said - the reasonable man in me should go for the 5 series - c class, or the A6. Though when I spec them up to what I want and then add in the interest - it comes to similar price, give or take about 2k.

Then again, if you had the full cash to put down and didnt worry about interest payment - then that makes a big deal to.

Overall in my situation - this car has blown my budget. Though I did the same with my A5. Once I was in it - the remorse faded away.

I hope that was the same for you menthos - or do you honestly feel you overspent and maybe regret a decision or two?

This is so true for me as well - I don't even look at cars in showrooms that I know I could maybe go crazy and buy - the r8 spyder for example. I love that car. However if I am in a Audi showroom (common as Im taken to dealers a lot) I won't even go sniff there.

In short - I'm just too weak.

Going to burn in hell

I'm sure you'll love it Quaker. I just can't justify the spend when I already have a nice car. To spend £60,000 just for two extra seats is mental for me.

No, like you I'm happy enough once I'm in the car. There will obviously be a sweet reminder that I should have been sensible, when I swap out :/

But I'm in the fortunate position that my big life expenses (house, retirement, etc) are pretty much paid for quite early in my life. Now I just service the silly stuff like cars and holidays . Still, having grown up to middle class working parents, I have a healthy respect for money. My mum for example (while happy her children can have things they could only dream about), still insists she only wants a Golf (or equivelant), because a £40-50k car still represents several years salary based on what she first earned Every 3 years when we get her a new car, I slowly edge her up (might get her into a C class/3) next

We'll after singing the praises of this car (aside from the cost ), I'm sitting here waiting for BMW assist

Locked it, went into tile showroom, came back and the mirrors wouldn't unfold. Now discovered the entire driver door console isn't working. Tried opening them manually but they won't lock in place and too risky to negotiate the a406 incase the wind folds them back.

I suspect it may be more serious electrical fault as it just locked itself with ignition off and key (plus me thankfully) in the car.

Also last week I was showing my uncle the folding seats (as he forgot to spec them) and the HUD stopped working for a couple of hours :/. The link between the instrument cluster also stopped working. Couple if hours later it all started working again. Bit concerned now this may be the start of niggling electrical issues

Nooooooo!

I expect my Maser to be 'Italian' but if my new GC did this it would drive me mad! Hope BMW Assist sort this out for you - perhaps down to an errant fuse that needs replacing.
