Winter wheels & tires for 650i GC

Anyone know a good winter/snow wheel & tire set for a 2016 650i xdrive GC that I can buy complete?

I don't need anything fancy. Just something that rides well and looks somewhat decent though looks are not top priority.

Thanks for any help.

Anyone have any thought on this setup?:

http://prntscr.com/ddcfrb

I have 2016 650i xDrive GC

I admit I know nothing about wheel size and tires. I have 19's on now and these are 17's. I'm assuming the tire O.D. is larger to make up the difference.

I would like to get something soon but really need help/advice.

Thanks for any info.

17's seem small for the car - I'm not 100% sure they will fit over 650 brakes but if Tire Rack says they will they probably will. Not sure where in Illinois you are, but unless the roads around you are absolutely terrible there isnt much benefit to downsizing your wheels. Personally, I don't think it looks right and I don't want my car looking like that 5 months of the year.

My preference has always been to find a good looking solid wheel, perhaps OE, and use that. I would worry about using a $145 wheel on this car. It's a heavy car and cheap cast wheels aren't the greatest. Based on that wheels's comments about where you have to locate weights the 17" wheel barely fits and probably isn't a good idea for a winter wheel with the potential for rocks snow and ice between the wheel and caliper.

As far as tires are concerned, I am a huge fan of Nokian. I personally run Nokian Hakkapaliitta * studded snows, but the Hakka R non studded is a great tire as well. They wear like iron and are the best snows I have ever used. You get a little tire squirm if pushing them because they are deep treads and soft, but tires are all about compromises. decide what you desire mst in a snow tire, and pick your tire based on that quality. If it is traction in snow and ice, You won't regret a set of Nokians.

Thanks!!!!! I too was concerned about the fitting over the brakes. I just started looking at 18" and will probably go that route.

Question - What offset should I get? Sorry but total noob about this.

Thanks again!

offset will depend on wheel width - do you have the 351's now? its an 8.5" wheel. can stay with that. could go smaller, but skinnier tires have problems of their own, especially on a big, heavy car like the 650.

I run 17's Winters on my 640D over here...looking around though the 650's have larger brakes.

Mine on 17's the clearance is SFA, you cannot get a microfibre between the wheel and front caliper (the rear is better but still "tight"). You definitely need 18's for the 650.

Yes 8.5" wheel. Will get similar. Thanks for the answer!

Thanks. Took a shot with the black. Not sure how I feel about them yet. Of course my 17 year old son loves them.

Try switching out the center caps for your BMW ones.

Just got them on last night. Dry road they handle and feel good. Snow starting tonight through tomorrow so I'll try them out then.

Drove them in only about 1/2" snow last night. Couldn't really go too fast on the roads near me but quick accelerations and sudden stops were handled really well.
