UK 650i or M6 GC realistic fuel consumption
I'm looking to upgrade from a 640D GC to a 650i GC and just wondering what the realistic fuel consumption is for a 80mph motorway cruise.
I get about 39mpg in my 640D. I know the official combined is 32 mpg but what will I achieve cruising in real life, 28mpg?? I'm also considering an M6, but that scares me from an mpg perspective. Any advice appreciated. Thanks Andrew |

US numbers for my 650xi GC with N63tu, so not an imperial gallon. I average 19-20 and I'm not gentle. On relatively flat ground using cruise you will get 22-23 or so at 80mph. The 8 speed is geared pretty low. Runs at 1800 rpm at 80 mph. Stop and go traffic and hills and a heavy right foot can easily ruin these numbers.
If you can keep it under 70 you will see 27-28mpg, but what fun is that. |
