LOL, ENJOY IN GOOD HEALTH!!

Let me know if I can assist with the 2x4 I hear those way too phat titanics tend to have a really strong gravitational pull ... Might I also add that you may want to wear a helmet when standing next to one to protect yourself from the occasional constilation orbiting it

You can get the CLS63 over here in shooting brake format, they are completely unique and kind of cool

CLS63? Similar to S63. Same engine, same power, same torque but 200-300 lb less PHAT and 2" shorter (length) ... And ofcourse faster than S63 (Coupe or Sedan)

Actually direct competitor of M6 GC

Also bigger engine (5.5 liter), more horsepower, and more torque than the M6 GC. However, having owned both, the M6 GC seems quicker.

BY DEFINITION, A MAN'S 2 INCHES??

YES A MORE DIRECT COMPETITOR TO M6 GC ...

YES BIGGER ENGINE ... BUT INTERESTING TO SEE ADV OF 4MATIC VS REAR DRIVE

well... as the second set of tires last year I put MPSS 305/30/20 on rear. Yesterday I had tire shop installed the third set (on rear) and it's Nitto NT05 305/30/20 with FANTASTIC GRIP (AND SOFTER COMPOUND)
So, no need to AWD for me.... RWD is lots of fun especially when you have 600+ HP ready to be released under your right foot

As a side note you may be interested to compare those two cars (M6GC and CLS63 AMG) as well :

C&D Test........ M6GC.......CLS63 AMG S model 4matic
0–30 MPH ...... 1.4 sec ....1.3 sec
0–60 MPH ...... 3.5 sec.....3.2 sec
0–100 MPH......7.9 sec......7.7 sec
0–130 MPH......13.0 sec....13.5 sec
¼-Mile @MPH...11.7 sec @ 124.....11.6 sec @ 122
Rolling , 5–60 MPH........4.0 sec.....4.1 sec
Top Gear, 30–50 MPH....2.2 sec.....2.7 sec
Top Gear, 50–70 MPH....3.0 sec.....2.7 sec

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...specs-page-5-2

as you can see any rolling race (5-60 , 60-100, 60-130, 100-130) will end up to the superiority of RWD vs AWD
Short drag races (0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile but not 0-130) are the territory of AWD

WONDERFUL INFORMATION!

Guess now it really comes down to the application for the vehicle!

I do agree on dry roads that RWD and well over 550 hp is very fun indeed ... add wet or light dusting of snow to the roads and the tables quickly turn (Why I garage an M6 and an S63 AMG 4matic ... but yes the S63 is a PHAT CAT ... but prefer it as it is more rare than an E63 AMG 4matic ...)

From a dead stop, yes AWD has superiority as it can get the power to the ground better (as well as more sure footed in the rain and snow) .... from rolling to what ever speed you choose, yes AWD not as good as the numbers do not lie. I am sure there is a loss of power to the ground in the AWD setup as there are many more moving parts and thus resistance to getting the HP/torque to the road, which a RWD monster does not have to deal with ... perhaps also why the bigger displacement on the E63/CLS63/S63 ... will be interesting to see which cars the new 4.0L biturbo AMG engine trickes down into and the HP/torque outputs for that unit

My last 2007 M6 Cab came with 275 on the rear ... we moved to 305's and boy what a difference in getting the power to the ground with less traction control intervention ... the 2016 came with 295 (corrected) on the rear, we running 325s as of day of delivery ... not sure how much better it is over the stock 285 set-up...

I do also agree that stickier rubber really helps!!! Slicks would be even better!

As you are on your third set of tires, I can confidently say, YOU DO ENJOY YOUR M6!!! And I hope your Tire Shop gives you more than a free coffee when you show up

Both have their advantages ... now it comes down to driver needs.

See if future Ms come in X-drive as an option ... AMG has done so in some parts of the world .. others you only get RWD or 4matic ... no choice.

Very interesting comparison and GREAT Stats!

Thanks for checking them and posting!

On a side note ... it has been really fun bantering back and forth ... I really enjoyed it and got some good .. hope you did too!

Chat soon Bro!!!

You mean your 2016 M6 came with 285 on rear? it's kinda weird since the standard tires for M6 are 265/40/19 - 295/35/19 for 19" rims or 265/35/20 -295/30/20 for 20" rims ....
Or maybe they are winter tires?

Most probably xDrive will be introduced... hopefully it's optional in North America

The 2016 came with 295 on 20's on the rear ... Phat thumbs on iPhone 6plus ... Need IPhone 6Phat ... You are correct ... Tire and stock rims stored

Yes hopefully xdrive will be optional on M cars ... So I can still buy a RWD Cabrio in the future 600 hp plus with the M6 badge:

You know what they say in oil country ... Go phat or go home

CLS63 is the closest thing to an M6 GC along with the RS7 of course, but the RS7 has plastic all over the interior and is a lot cheaper feeling overall.

In the states of course the M6 is the only RWD option, whereas in the right hand drive world, only the RS7 is AWD, and the CLS63 can be RWD or AWD. Next generation should be a good fun comparison too

I suspect the M6 is a bit quicker than the CLS63 because the 7 speed DCT with RWD will send more power to the wheels than the auto and AWD setup.
