I think it's a smart move to offer an x-drive model with high performances near M6 GC!
Of course there are some good points (like better traction), and a weak point with more weight. A comparative test should be very interesting! |

I also find it interesting that so many people consider DCT such a huge benefit. Yes, it snaps off the shifts faster, but stop and go performance suffers -or at least it has in all of those that I have driven.

Dealer says they have production numbers for the B6's, but they don't yet have pricing/ordering guides available. They said that I can order one now using the '15 ordering guide.
Anybody come across the pricing/ordering guides for the '16's yet? Supposedly SOP is 3/15 along with the other 6ers, so I am surprised the ordering guide isn't available yet. Doug - I know you posted one last year, and that's what we will use to place our order. What do your sources say? Last edited by JimM6GC; 02-22-2015 at 09:55 PM.. |

Weird. I would make sure you can change the order once the guide comes out. Because nothing would be worse than a new option you really want.

Thanks, Doug.
We just got back from a whirlwind trip to the L.A. area to prove that we were serious. I am not sure what their alleged "production number" is really for. Nothing says it is for a '16, and I could not get any information from the 1-800 number that I used to check production status when I ordered my M6GC. I understand that production has not yet started, but I expected to see some kind of tie to the '16 models. Fortunately, all of our email correspondence is clear that we want to order a '16. I will give them the benefit of the doubt at this point, but I am wondering if the number is just a place holder within the dealership. We'll see. And yeah, we don't want to fully commit until we see what the actual ordering guide looks like. |

Order Guide
Jim
Here you go. My dealer reports all but 4 build slots are taken! And residuals are down a percent from the 2015s.

Thanks, Doug!
I guess I'm not too surprised that the production slots have filled up so fast. The added HP and torque numbers were somewhat of a pleasant surprise to us. Any pricing info out yet? I see that they have a new color (among others) available - Mediterranean Blue. We were going to order Alpina Blue, but I took the Alpina Blue paint code to an automobile paint dealer and got a pint of the stuff. After priming, spraying, and cleat-coating a sample, well, its ... purple. Not a bad color, bit not really our style. Further proof that one should not base one's color choice on what one sees in a not-too-well-lit showroom (Irvine BMW). We will be looking at an example of Tanzanite Blue at a dealership in the SF Bay Area this weekend, and we already ruled out Deep Sea Blue (which has been deleted, and which doesn't look too much different from Mediterranean Blue from the pics I've seen), so it will be interesting to see what our final choice is. So far, it's Mineral White, even though we're somewhat tired of the white/silver/grey routine of our past cars. We "buy and hold" our vehicles for several years, so residual value is not a big concern to us. However, I am wondering if they have factored in the possibility that leases will expire at about the time when the G series cars will be coming out. It will be interesting to see where we are in the production queue. Since we got a discount on the car, we may be one of the last ones in line at our dealership. RichardP - do you have any production stats (cars per month) for the US market for these cars? If we end up being at the tail end, we may just wait another year. To be clear, it is the first round of production - not total. And in that, per my dealer "Currently 34 order slots available in the US….only 7 of which are not sold….and 3 of those are in 'Center Own Use' status which means don't call me you can't have it!"
As for the blues... I think "Alpina Blue" is the standard blue you see on most Alpina's that aren't black. It is a cool color and screams "This is an Alpina". I wouldn't mind it of course, but I think the Mediterranean is a darker blue and would be even sweeter. Tanzanite is STUNNING in person and if you can get that for only an $1,800 up charge, then do it! You are getting a special car, get a special color - that's my advice edit: re the lower residuals, BMWs normally have a lower residual at the beginning of the model year production than at the end. I expect it will go up a bit.

*Whew!* Thanks for the clarification, Doug.
I called the 800 number with our vehicle production number, and I learned that our vehicle is "scheduled for production with no confirmed production date." I assume that could be status code 112 and that we at least made it to the first round of production, even though the production week ordinarily is assigned at status code 87. I have read of other people with status code 112 with no confirmed production date for non-Alpina cars, so perhaps that is the correct status code. I guess a call to the dealer is in order. I've seen some of the photos of Tanzanite Blue cars posted by other members here. It sure looks intriguing. If all goes well, we will get to see a TB 650i this weekend at a SF area dealership. Supposedly there are at least two in the area. |

Our order has a status code of 111 as of 3/3/15, so at least it was accepted at BMW AG.
The VIR lists an "Ind. Block Date" of 3/30/15. Anybody know what that means? |

I don't know for sure. If my experience with the M6GC is any guide, I suspect the car will arrive sometime in early to middle July. That takes into account the facts that B6's take an extra two weeks to build and that the car must wait for a ship, float across the Atlantic, cross the Panama Canal, and make it up to Port Hueneme, CA.
I'm just happy that the order apparently did make it into the first round of production that you mentioned previously. |

Drove behind a black B6 GC on the west side highway yesterday afternoon. NJ plates. Don't see too many of these in the wild, so wondered who it might be - forum member maybe? Beautiful ride!

Anyone getting any discounts on the B6? I am looking to use the pull ahead program to get out of my 650 into a B6. Curious as to what people are purchasing them for before I got to my dealer.

You should be able to get a decent deal on the 2015s. I would contact Brett Midgley if you are interested in shipping one at a great deal
