Petrol v Diesel
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I have to tell you guys, althought the overal feel is obviously different, the performance is outstanding especially the mid range tourque. Not withstanding the money you'll save, it is a pain to keep stopping to fill up, almost daily in my case. If you get the chance to take the 640d for a spin, I'd strongly recommend you do. The new Cayenne D is also an amazing drive. |

I wish we had the 640d so I could test drive one. I don't think I'd be able to convince myself to give up the 650i and actually buy a diesel, but I'd love to take it for a drive. Not having to fill up as much is appealing though

a V8 is absolutely amazing, and a diesel will never be able to match the sound or hit the high end rev limits. however for every day driving the 640d is the best i have experienced. I have had a number of diesel cars and i also run an X5 with the same engine but BMW's engineers have worked thier magic on the 640d its simply stunning. As RDT has mentioned its definitely worth a drive!

For Europeans might be an advantage to buy a diesel, but being in US I can't see any reason to buy one.
The new (updated) 4,4L V8 is just amazing 640i with a proper exhaust system is very good too |
