Break in Period

Ok you BMW pros. I would like to know when I can start spooling up these turbos in my 640i GC. I have kept it in Comfort + since i bought it on 7/29/12. Starting to feel like taking a spirited drive. What are your recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Keep building up the revs by 200rpm all the way up to 5000rpm till you reach 1000kms. Than do an oil change and floor it all the way to the moon and back.

You don't have to baby it. In fact, I would recommend against baby-ing it.

Just drive it as you normally would, but make sure to vary the RPMs (ie. no long drives on cruise control) until you hit about 1000 miles on the ODO.

With almost 1000 miles on the OD I put the GC in sport mode for the first time today. Used the shift levers as well as the center console shift lever. Was very impressed. I realize the 650 GC will have much more HP but quite honestly I can't imagine needing more power than what I feel with the 640i. Plus burning more $4.35/gallon CA special blend premium won't be missed. The car is truly a drivers car. "The Ultimate Driving Machine" is fully designed into this car.

Congrats. A truely great car you have. This is how I break in a new car: Drive it as normal in dfferent rpms, but avoid the highest (4500+) until 2000 kms / 1300 miles. Then gradually increase. Have fun!
