I appreciate threads like this. When I bought my 650 a couple months ago we were down to the last negotiations and the dealer offered to "throw in" a package. I asked for the tire/wheel protection package and he added it to the deal at no charge. 5 years, $0 deductible for any tires/wheels on the car. It helped I was dealing with the dealership general manager, but nonetheless I seem to have got a better deal than I thought when I see what others are paying. Hope I don't need it, but...!!!

5 rims repaired @ ~ $ 150 each = $750
9 tires @ ~ $450 each = $ 4050
Total $4800.
So far $2700 ahead.
Better than going to Vegas! (Almost)
I've just picked up a 2013 650i GC. The dealer quoted just over $4K for 5yr tire/wheel coverage with cosmetic repair. It sounded waaay too high but I think they were trying to get some money back due to the negotiations on the vehicle price.

So, how many years of coverage did you get at $2.1K? And does it include repairs if you curb the alloys? The finance guy said that the cosmetic repair option was another $500, but that he'll take that off.

By the way... new to the BMW community.

Actually don't know about rim rash but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't

So, $4K for 5yrs is not too bad then (and it includes rim rash).

I was told that I can cancel the protection any time and get the money back (pro-rated). And I was about to call them today to cancel. But then found this forum and thought I'll gauge other owner's opinions.

Thanks.

Have no idea what your roads are like but the past 2 winters in the North East have been brutal on asphalt.
And of course repairs are few and far between.

The roads aren't great here either. The protection may come handy but at $4K I'm wondering if I could just self-insure it.

Anyone else has any other price points to mention?

$1500, no deductible, no limits, 4 years, any wheel or tire on the car, includes self inflicted (curb rash) repair.

And that's how you ruin a day

Out of curiosity, did you buy it new or CPO? The reason i ask is because I believe on new cars there is more room to give discounts.

Can this protection be bought from other warranty/insurance companies or is it only at the point of sale of the car?
