m8gc, don't even want to think of the pricing on that, gotta think that would be closing in on the 200k mark.

I think based on the concept the standard coupe looks better, i really hope the pricing is on par with the current 6 series, if not i too may be forced to defect. The main reason that the 6s are selling well in the UK is due to heavy discounts and dealer support, otherwise even the current model has priced it self of the market, i recall 0% finance available from day one

Then again i think clever move by BMW,

So

Inflate the price to begin with
Offer heavy discounts to reach an acceptable price point and margin
Finally Flood the market

Not a bad ploy thats paid off, I'm sure the same stunt will be pulled for the new model, if so i may well stay loyal

Agreed....
Same here in US. Most of them are being sold or leased with huge discount after months of sitting on dealer's lot... I was witness two M6 Competition Edition (Sticker price over 167k) were sold for 130k.... I got the same offer for another one couple months ago

I'm in love with exterior too specially front and back end. The interior is not catching my eyes but car looks like too long. I guess this concept car is longer than F13 ... Have no idea about weight but overall it's a beautiful car ...

I think it looks great! And this isn't even the M variant. The issue will be price point. They are going against the S-class Coupe here.... so that realistically moves the M8 out of my price range figuring it would cost north of 170k nicely optioned.

Discontinuing the 6 will hurt BMW since the it was at a layer that directly penetrated the competition RS6/E63S/RS7 etc. I'm curious to know what BMW has in their back pocket to counter this.

At 170k price point I either get McLaren 570s or 911 GT3 or R8

I'd save up a little more and get me a Huracan.

I wonder how BMW plans to compete with the Mercedes CLS, Audi A7 and Porsche Panamera?

Just looking at the concept shows that this will be an expensive piece of kit, BMW have killed it with the current 6in the UK mainly the 640D models by making it very accessible to fleet and private users. BMW is chasing volume nowadays so it shall be interesting to see how the intend on continuing this trend with the 8series.

The other issue is that BMW needs to bolster it support and after sales network, if they are expecting people to part with that kind of money, i for one don't want to talk to a sales man who sells mini's and 1 series for a living with no high end product nouse ! Perhaps they need to adopt the lexus in infiniti approach.

Hmm lets see how this pans out and what the pricing looks like. I will be keeping my 911 and moving into a gt3 for my weekend fix. But once the lease on the m6gc is up I am not sure I will be making the transition into the m8gc. Lets see how much bmw is going to charge for adding 2 more digits to the model....

Can't wait to see the full blown M8 if this vid is anything to go by.

Been confirmed by a very reliable source , 6 series will be scrapped .
So you guys think there won't be an M6 at all anymore? That's very disappointing... won't the M8 have a way higher price point?

Years ago a friend of mine was working for BMW and shared some experiences with me. He said BMW has some strategies about different models. With 1 series (which is 1 ad 2 series today) is targeting people in 20's. With 3 series (3 and 4 today) is targeting 30's and with 5 and 6 is targeting 40's and 7 is for 50+. Now the question is if 8 is targeting 50-60 then it should be more luxury, less sporty and of course more expensive ... Anyways hopefully BMW is not gonna put a crazy sticker on his car if they have decided to discontinue the 6 er!

Hey bro, drove the Porsche Cayman GT4 clubsport with slicks on the track yesterday ... all I have to say is wow ... put my M6 with Dinan stage II and supersprint catless down pipes and full Akra to shame ... nearly disappointed with M6 ... M8 if a beached whale ... well

And I may actually have to accept a Porsche into the fold as a track car and leave BMW

BMW is betting heavily that all those who have enjoyed the M6 thus far have had even more financial success and can afford the higher price point.
