So my shop foreman just called and said that my 22 inch wheels won't fit in the front of the Gran coupe, they hit the front spindle. The wheels were previously on my 550 GT. I could pass on buying the 650xi GC and buy a short wheelbase 7 and my wheels will fit. Or do I just buy the GC anyway? I'm kinda torn, I really wanted to re-use my wheels.

Screw the wheels. Get the car. You asked for opinions.

Ditto - car is much sexier than any 7 series regardless of wheels. Sell them and buy a new set for the 6, you'll love it! (I get compliments everywhere, much more unique look than 7)

I was away from the PC but around 3pm, I called and secured the GC. I just love the look so much. Plus since my E90 M3, I haven't had something I really loved. I take delivery Sat or Sunday, depending on when their done putting new tires on it. I called CEC, my wheels will actually fit but I need to buy narrower front tires, so I will ride the winter with the stock tires and swap em out in the spring.

Leasing or buying? If leasing what kind of deal did you get? If you're uncomfortable publicizing then by all means PM me but its valuable info for the forum if you don't mind!

I just purchased something similar last month. Black Carbon Metallic over Cinnamon/black two tone interior on my 2014 650ix Gran Coupe. Also would say screw the wheels. I have 20" wheels from my 550i I plan to re-use but if not then will sell and get a new set. No issues. Easy decision? Gran Coupe vs old wheels? Wheels lose every time! LOL

Buying...That's what really helped me with my decision...I used to work at the BMW Dealership that is selling me the car. I worked there for almost 10 years and I'm buddies with the GM. Once I realized the car was traded in, I told him that I wanted it. I'm practically stealing the car. I will announce price paid after I take delivery, I don't want to jinx anything.

So from the pics the car is lovely. One can see you used the "Eco Plus" a bit to achieve that +2.2 miles.
I tried it too. Now never use it. I find it so frustrating / incompatible with the rest of the car, I'd donate it to anyone who wants mine if I could !

ENJOY!

Congratulations on the new car. You will definitely enjoy it. I really like the full digital cluster display. I wish my car came with that option, but that was not an option when I picked up my car.

I remember when it first came up as an option, it didn't get a warming welcome, but the reviews about it seem to be all positive, and the pics I see of it make it look like something I could appreciate.

Enjoy the new toy in good health. I couldn't own a car like that in VA. My license would be taken away from me.

Brave Brave man - those stock tires are summers unless they were changed out

Ugh - it sucks (to me). Give me your gauges any day. In fact I just traded cars for a week with my friend who has a 550xi. One of his comments was "I like my gauges so much more". I couldn't help but agree. So count me out as a positive review and count yourself in the lucky group that does not have a video game for a dashboard

It can be deactivated in the settings menu, correct? I know it won't be the same as having gauges, but at least it wouldn't change each time you changed driving modes. I was excited that my car had it and thought I would really like it. In fact, it was the one option I regretted not being able to get when I was considering a 5 Series. But once I saw the Sport Mode display live, I didn't like it at all. I found myself averting my eyes from the dash when in Sport Mode. I really don't have a problem with the Comfort or Eco Pro Mode displays. I didn't see anything in my owner's manual about being able to deactivate it, but the BMW Youtube channel video shows how it can be deactivated.

Yes - but even deactivated, the dash is "game like". Worse, the needles on the gas and temp gauge are only 1/2 the size they should be - takes longer than a quick glance to check both now. The standard dash (like yours) is just so perfect. Yes, change sucks.

Sorry to hear that you are not too happy with the digital dash. I can understand that someone may find it a bit "gimicky". I can also see that the oil temp and fuel gage needles are considerably short, now that you mention it.

Doug, I thought since we apparently have the same taste in cars, that we might also have the same appreciation for "cutting edge" tech. looks like I was mistaken, lol.

From the pics I have seen of the digital cluster, the novelty of it seems appealing to me, and I do like the difference of changes depending on the drive train settings the car is put in. I have always been a sucker for things that have components that illuminate to set the "mood", so to speak.

So whether you are in an aggressive driving mood, or feel like just cruising and enjoying the music and sights during your travels, I thought it is a nice touch to have your car display match the mood at any given time. My humble opinion, of course.

Out of curiosity though, have any of you notices any glitches or malfuntions with the digital cluster...? Like lag in response or Image residue?

Interesting...the one thing I constantly notice and my friend who borrowed my car for a week noticed, is that my HUD flickers! It is really weird and hard to catch, but damn if it doesn't flicker (almost turn off and turn on). But that's not due to the digital dash - or is it?

Ha! I think I love cutting edge when it makes things better. Like the triple turn signal, iDrive, HUD. A perfect version of this dash would be one that looks just as clean and straightforward as the current dash, giving up nothing while adding the cool look stuff like the sport display and eco pro. That to me would be perfect. Take the Lexus gauges (from what I remember) - they might have the same type of technology, but when on, they look like real gauges. That's probably what bothers me - these don't look real And man have we taken this thread off topic

not intended!!
I see what you mean about the functional aspects of cutting edge tech. Some things are a genuine improvement. Some things are just for flash. I can definitely agree that the digital cluster is more flash over function.

Just commenting on the digital gauges you guys have because I think it's a cool option. Hey, as long as we are talking about the amazing machinces we have, then I'm sure the OP won't mind too much, lol.

Tires

They gave me a choice on tires, since the ones on it were toast. I went with Conti DWS's non run flats - Had them on my passed 2 BMW's and liked em.

I like everything about it so far, but I only had it since Saturday night. Heads turn everywhere, you'd think I was driving an exotic.

I drove it the whole way from VA to NY (380~miles) in ECO PRO -- 25.9-27.5 mpg the whole way.
