ASS Question..

This might be a dumb question.. I apologize for that... But I've realized that on my 13' 640i GC the car does not show the ASS sign with a / on the instrument cluster... It only shows the sign when ASS is active... Why is that? How Come on other Bimmers both signs show?

Thats the sign it shows... However the one with the / it does not show..

what if you press the little button under the Start Stop Engine button to disable ASS?

Well, i like using ASS... But after driving a 520i, X3 x28i, 320i and i saw the Ass with / sign i wondered why it doesn't show on my car.. Just the Blue one that shows when Ass is Active

I like using "ASS" myself as well

I see the ASS with / sign when I first start the car and then come to a stop. There are certain situations when ASS is disabled by the system, one of which is when the engine is not warm enough (aka cold start). Maybe in Qatar it's warm enough all year around that it doesn't affect ASS?

Hehe not really, it was 51F this morning lol... I just wondered why on my realtives' cars they show but on mine it doesn't... And during the summer when its too hot the car doesn't shut off, and if it does then it fires back up after like 30 seconds but still, the ASS with / sign doesn't show :S

I'm speculating but if you look at the pics, on the cars that it shows up, they have a "ready" and "off" position for the rev needle.

On those cars nothing shows up when ASS does turn the engine off. The rev needle just sits at ready.

So it could be the different kinds of instruments work a little differently in terms of telling you what the ASS is up to. A person not really paying attention to the instruments might see the ASS pop up and not notice it has a line through it, so BMW might have decided not to show two such similar symbols to prevent confusion.

Showing the engine is off because off ASS and will turn on again is more important than showing ASS has decided not to turn the car off...
