Amazed with 60mpg with 380bhp
I've had my 640d for a year now and it still impresses me with its performance and Mpg when plodding along.
Overall in a year it's averaged 33mpg over 17000 miles with all variants of driving with lots of lead foot action too. Still can't think of a better luxury car that will achieve 0-60 in less than 4.5 seconds and get up to 60mpg when required

We should arrange a south east meet in the new year if anyone is up for it? Oh and you aren't the Macca that used to be on a e39 forum a few years back with a lovely M5 by any chance was you?

I was getting 52-53 in a 250 mile run taking it steady, however with 3k to go before its first service this has suddenly dropped to 45-46 for some unkown reason... |

Maybe check your tire pressure. As the temps go down, your tires lose pressure and increase rolling resistance, lowering fuel economy.

Haha no it was all sorts of roads and motorways bud. But very light footed and it was rush hour. I don't see them figures very often that's for sure.

not sure I would get away for Non RFT as mine is on contract hire and when it goes back it has to be as it was from new....
I did a bit of a run yesterday mixed motorway 80 miles+ and then A roads 50 miles + pushing on a bit and returned 48 mpg ... this is an improvement since I put a bit more air in the tires...

I did 340 miles at the weekend and still have 1/2 a tank left which I'm well happy with considering the traffic and rain etc oh and for the return leg I checked the tyre pressures and they all were 2.1 bar so put them to 2.4 and it was better coming back. I am going to buy some tyre weld and maybe even try and find out what space saver I can find that will fit as later this year we are doing a European road trip and I don't like the thought of just having tyre weld.

45mpg? I'm getting about 38 with mostly motorway/dual carriageway driving. It's better than my old petrol coupe but nowhere near your figures. Tyre pressures are all correct, did a desert on the fuel consumption when I picked the car up in November. Is this the difference between stock and chipped? Must admit my foot I'd welded must off the time to the floor for pre pleasure. I'm also spending a lot of time on adaptive cruise control (not sure if that burns more for all its braking).
Still big smiles though even if it's a bit thirstier than expected.. |
